Nope. This hat has no hole for a ponytail or long hair. In fact, if you have thick hair, the hat won't be very comfortable as it does not breath on the top.

Q: Can't the sun penetrate the mesh ventilation?

It hasn’t happened to me. No sunburn on top of my head.
