My Hero Academia: School Briefs, Vol. 1: Parents' Day (1)

Really cute, quick little read. Could easily picture what I was reading in my mind, almost as if I were watching the anime. I love the Horikoshi sketches, and how he mentions at the back these are meant to be short stories about the characters just going about their daily lives. I love getting in the various characters' minds and reading their thoughts. Laughed out loud a lot, even got teary eyed a time or two. I've already preordered the next volume!

Hero Academia School Briefs 1 is a commendable undertaking to present a novelized take on hero academia. While it is worth nothing that quite a ton of people have done the same, with the number of hero academia fanfics of greater than 100K words on one archive fanfiction archive exceeding over 300 works, it is remarkable that we receive something of the same quality in a published form. For me, it was difficult to avoid comparing this novel with those.Characterization in this novel was pretty good though personally I would have liked some of the Kaminari parts done in a way that didn’t make him seem to be just a slightly toned down version of Mineta, and Mineta was honestly distracting and disappointing. I would have liked if Mineta was handled in a way that sort of redeemed him or at least made him somewhat involved in many of the plots to feel relevant and important, instead of as the perverted comic relief (well many times it wasn’t actually funny).Other characters like Bakugo and Midoriya were handled in a way that made me feel they were definitely more than just classmates as behind Bakugo’s gruff/rough exterior there were many moments in here where it seemed like he was concerned with Midoriya and actually talking to him instead of ignoring him.Otherwise, this novel was great as the vignettes did give us different and unexpected teamups, for example Tokoyami, Ida, Kaminari, and Mineta never seemed like a combi that would work but here it was. I love that other than the usual ones we see with those characters. The girl’s side was a bit slower with the mochi and pantie thief, but it had its moments of insight into their lives, and the weakest one was honestly the teachers lounge moment (midnight playing doctor made a boy bat for the other team, just seemed totally awkward and kind of inappropriate, jpn humor???). Finally, Todoroki’s portion was really good got the heart tugging.In conclusion, just yet another fanfic for HeroAca where the author really did do well with giving us their headcanons and seeing how different characters can play off each other. A better job incorporating the characters could have made this better, as unless you were Kaminari, Midoriya, Asui, Ochako, Yaomomo, Ida, Tokoyami, Mineta, Shoto, and to an extent Bakugo, you were an afterthought or giving one or two lines of content.Artwork between chapters was nice.

The book was great. It was about side stories about the class 1a the only problem was the book i receive was kind of lope sided.

I wasn't sure if I'd like it or not because it isn't written by the original author, but I LOVE it. I am a MASSIVE MHA fan and these books keep to their children's personalities, maturity level, and everything. It's a chapter book and they come with a double sided poster in them. Currently there are 4 school briefs out and they show the kids lives in between. In this one you get learn about their outside life's, some things that are surprising (to me at least one thing was), and then get some action into it so it's still the same kind of story plotting we love. I recommend it 100%.

Came in really good condition, only has the smallest dent on the cover but that isn't a problem for me. Haven't started reading through it but skimming through it seems to be easy to read (so good for kids that can read or new to chapter books). Does have a number of sketches in the book that are just beautiful.

While this book obviously has to fight against its own nature of being essentially (if not completely) non-canon, the characterization is so on-point that you could be forgiven for not noticing or caring about the difference.All-in-all a good way to satisfy that MHA craving.

this series is so amazing, really gives you a break from the manga with some NORMAL TEENAGE STORIES. really recommend they’re so funny. came in perfect condition too

When I ordered the book, I was pretty scared reading the reviews.. but the quality is amazing, the story is amazing and it is overall a great pick for mha lovers that want to know more about the character's lives.. you should buy it! :)~Plus!! There was a cute coloured page in the start!!
