I got a sample of this a long time ago and instantly fell in love with it. I knew it would be pricey, just by how well it worked and the fact it DIDN’T FLAKE all day long. If I fell asleep with my makeup on and woke up in the middle of the night realizing this, still no mascara flakes! I’ve read all the negative reviews and I just don’t agree with - or believe - what they say about this mascara. I’ve tried every over-the-counter mascara on the market. And while there USED TO BE a brand or two that worked really well for me, they’ve all changed their formulations in the past few years and flake before an 8-hour workday is over. My eyes have grown so sensitive to crappy mascara because of this. I was a loyal L’Oréal Voluminous mascara wearer for a good 15 years. Until one day I bought a new tube and it just didn’t work the same. It smelled differently, it flaked within hours, and it didn’t go on as easily or as quickly. That’s when I went on my quest to find the best “drug store” mascara. That led me to Maybelline’s Lash Sensational, which I felt was the diamond in the rough and the best out of all I’d tried. So that’s what I’d been wearing for the past year when I received the HOURGLASS sample and it, literally, ROCKED MY WORLD. There is a reason for the disparity in price between “drug store” makeup and “name brand” makeup. And it’s not just the name. The difference in price is the difference in quality, in production, in manufacturing, in ingredients. When you buy what some call “legacy” brands, you pay for an all-around better made product that takes more time and more care to produce. And it shows in the finished product. No longer will I be buying those “drug store” mascaras. My eyes are no longer sensitive to mascara. They don’t get red or water uncontrollably when I wear it. I don’t deal with flaking halfway through my day. For someone like me who is a brunette with thick curly hair and full, dark eyebrows, I have barely any eyelashes to speak of. So I need a mascara that can really turn up the volume, the length, EVERYTHING on my lashes to make them stand out and get noticed. HOURGLASS does that For me.

It’s super waterproof and doesn’t smudge and literally stays put all day and night! Sometimes I fall asleep with it and still can’t tell when I wake up that I had mascara on cause it doesn’t smear! I’m obsessed with this stuff. One bottle goes a super long way and doesn’t dry out. I love this stuff. It’s such high quality for a reasonable price!

This was my first hourglass purchase and although I don’t get the va va voom of HUGE lashes I do love this for everyday wear or if I use false lashes. My biggest takeaway is that I don't get flakes or clumps. It’s easy to apply and I still get big lashes without the clumped together lashes. I work as a nurse and this mascara stays all day without flaking down to my under eye and giving my raccoon eyes. I also love how sturdy and heavy the tube is. I’ll keep using this mascara for awhile! I love it!

So, I love this mascara and am always looking for the next best thing. I’ve tried Lancôme, Chanel, two faced, etc. and while they’ve been great I was never “hooked”. This mascara is amazing. If you spend 30 seconds on each eye you’ll look like you have fake lashes on, I’m truly sold on the performance of this mascara. However, I really struggle to get it off! I bought a new make up remover just for this mascara because it’s been so difficult for me to get off. Sometimes in the morning I can still see I didn’t get all of it. This would be the only negative of this mascara. If you have a great make up remover, then definitely purchase. It’s expensive but worth it. If the price is too much for you, I would consider getting either L’Oréal lash paradise or voluminous mascara, they are still good and substantially less expensive.

I originally purchased this at Sephora about 5 years ago and have been using it ever since. I liked the way it went on and didn’t make my eyelashes brittle. I couldn’t find it at the store so ordered it on line. I was glad they offered it on Amazon!

this mascara is a good one in my opinion. I have wore it for three hours as soon as I received it and it didnt flake or run. A little hard to wipe off I think but not big deal. No clumpy unless you add two to three applications one right after the other one. I feel it is good quality and therefore my three stars review. I took two stars off for the following reasons: if you have, like me, spare lashes (meaning not full) and you need length, it will give you length; however, it will separate your lashes even more, meaning does not add fullness. Thats why the "spider look" people comment about. For fullness you might want to try another type of mascara, and that was what I was looking for. Once I finish it I wont buy it again because I need fullness, but the mascara is good if you have full lashes and need length.

I was excited to try this mascara after reading all of the great reviews. This mascara is not what everyone touts it to be. My eyelashes were not longer and I found the formula to be thick and clumpy. The best brand of mascara I have ever used is Loreal Telescopic Mascara. It has round comb like brush and it really makes my lashes longer and fuller. I highly recommend it. I should of known that nothing can be as good as what I was already using, but I thought I would give something new a try. Be careful, if you purchase this mascara you cannot return it.

Really nice mascara & goes on smooth without any clumping. Makes my lashes longer as they are short and doesn't dry them out nor does it flake at any time.
