Beginning Syntax

This really helped me consolidate knowledge for my grammar exam as a student speech & language therapist - clear tree diagrams and logical flow of information.

If you would like a really good explanation of sentence structure and some grammar, I would recommend this book. Given the original date of publication - not sure why it's so expensive. However, if you really want some understanding of sentence structure, as parents, educators and or those on a self improvement 'drive' - try this one.Caution: If you want to get the best out of this book, do not attempt to start from the middle or skip sections. Examples are numbered so you need to refer back to previous numbered sections. Good luck!! ;-)

This is a gentle introduction to English grammar for the beginner, with easy exercises and simple, clear explanations for the terminology used throughout. It assumes no prior knowledge, leading you along at a reasonable pace, with occasional inclusions of wry humour to complement your learning. It's also recommend reading on some university courses.Highly recommended.
