How to Custom Paint Your Motorcycle (Motorbooks Workshop)

A really helpful book for someone who wants to create custom effects (in paint) on their motorcycle, helmet, or car. I bought this book before I painted my Harley based on a snippet I read on Google. It showed maybe one of the few parts of the book that was actually helpful for my situation. I had never painted before and was hoping for more of a primer (no pun intended) on painting.This book is not for the first time or beginner painter, but rather someone who's been painting for a while and wants to try their hand at advanced techniques. JoAnn is a no B.S. kind of lady, and will say it like it is (which is refreshing.) Instead of shying away from specific recommendations with regard to brand names, she throws it all out there: brand names, model names/numbers, types of paint, etc. This is very helpful to someone new at this.

There were beautiful airbrush jobs and some helpful info through the book. Price was great! It really isn't a book for beginning airbrush artist but I still got plenty from it...

I got some great ideas from this book in addition to step-by-step instructions on how to do several different custom paint methods and graphic designs. JoAnne seems down-to-earth and she includes illustrations to accompany her teachings. I have both this book and the "How to Paint Your Motorcycle" book also. I may get her airbrush book too; "How to Master Airbrush Painting Techniques". I don't know if the other books that are available are as good or not, but I am happy with this one.

Although I found it interesting, expecially her lifes' story in the beginning, the book wasn't exactly what I thought it would be about. In the beginning and for the 1st few chapters, it seemed to be more about how she, the author, custom paints motorcycles more so than you "learning" how to custom paint motorcycles, albeit in a book. The photos were great and the occassional hints she adds throughout the book made it for pretty good reading and informative, nonetheless.

I'm a motorcycle enthusiast. I bought the book just to know more about custom painting. The photos are absolutely fabulous. I have a much greater appreciation for all the airbrush artists out there!

From the same Author as How to Master Airbrush Painting Techniques. A well written easy to follow guide which takes you through the basic set up and equipment, before giving plenty of ideas and step by step illustrations of custom painting. Having read all about it you then have to do it and that aint as easy as the book makes it look.

Really useful book.

This another excellant book from Jo-ann Bortles which has shown me new ideas and methods to customise my bike and other things like crash helmets.The book clear and written so anyone can understand what to do to achieve excellant results.
