Don't listen to those saying the magnification doesn't work.
This is a very inexpensive microscope and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Hooks up to your PC or Android. Capturing images and video is as easy as using the camera app on your laptop. The image quality is clean, it's not full of abortions like cheaper optics tend to be. I've now used 3 separate units and they've all been great.People saying the magnification does not work right are not familiar with how microscopes operate. Each lens on a microscope has a certain distance to the object at which it will focus. So if you go from a 40x to a 100x magnification on any conventional microscope you will have to change how far away the slide is to get it into focus. What's happening here is that people don't know that and they're just holding the microscope at a fixed distance and then treating the magnification adjustment wheel as a focus wheel. Yes you can do that, you will eventually find the right magnification for the distance your sample is at. However, this is entirely backwards and you should adjust the distance to the sample as you change magnification instead. Just think back to high school science class if your school had microscopes.

Jiusion Original 40-1000X USB Microscope
I'm getting old and my eyesight is poor. I still enjoy electronics projects. Most are SMD or small surface mount devices. Using the scope, I can magnify and do a better job of soldering. I can inspect my work to make sure no solder bridges exist between legs of multi-terminal chips. At high magnification depth of field is shallow. Picture quality is not perfect at high magnifications, but for the price and what I am asking of it, I'm OK with it. You can remove the plastic shroud and get even closer magnification but must be careful not to scratch lens. The adjustable LED's provide more than enough light. The supplied stand is OK but easy to move when doing focus adjustments. An aluminum base stand, available separately, would provide a more stable mount. For the money, hard to beat it.

Works well, clear imaging, amazing price.
I used this USB microscope to look at my stereo phono cartridge cantilever and needle. It works great for that. I also looked at some coins. Nice clear picture and you can just snap and save pictures to your computer. I can clearly see the diamond facets on the needle, which is so tiny, it can't be seen with a magnifying glass. So now I can see if it is worn or dirty. At first I though the needle was terribly worn or missing, but it was just covered in dirt. I cleaned it once, and I could still see some dirt or vinyl still sticking to the needle. After I cleaned it again, I could clearly see the diamond needle was just fine and not damaged or worn, and all the dirt was gone. I didn't get the red snap button on the side of the microscope to work yet, so I just took photos by mouse click with the in software App for Windows 10. I also didn't get the red Zoom button to work yet, so I need to look into that. Maybe there is a driver on the included CD or something. For now, I just downloaded the App from their website. So at this point I am just use a combination of the silver power adjustment wheel and proper distancing in order to focus properly. It is a little difficult with the included stand, but not that hard once you get used to it. I'll probably get the optional better stand that is available for it. Also, there is a light intensity control is built into the USB cord, I didn't notice it at first, and it is not noted in the minimal instruction sheet. And as it says in the instructions, don't hit the restart computer button after installing the software. I did, and I got a spinning circle forever, and then had to shut off and restart the computer. When I hit don't restart the next time, it installed and worked right away.

For fun use
I think the best way to describe this is it does work but not for work. If u wanna look at bugs and such great but if u need it for work purposes no. The reason is the zoom works but not the focus so if u zoom in to max the microscope has to literally be touching the item. Tried using to fix pcv board had no space to work with

4 Years Later
Still holding up after around 3-4 years. Hasn't broke or anything. Easy to install. Carrying case is adequate. Inexpensive. Pretty portable. etc.I mainly use it to look at coins, stamps and things like that. I don't really need it to see if a plant is ready or not. I can tell just by looking at one usually. Regardless it is neat to be able to zoom in on a plant. I'm sure kids would love zooming in on different bugs, minerals, elements and what not. The light is good but I still find myself using a desk lamp over whatever coin I'm looking at. Better than a jeweler's loupe. Most of the time I have it installed on an older android phone that I no longer use and they'd give me like 50 cents for. So I use that phone to put things like this on it.Good item. [I made the attached photo a lot smaller]

Viewing area narrow and doesn't focus properly
Bought this to view coins for errors. Total waste of money. On a Half Dollar coin you can only see one letter as it won't focus if you hold it further away. You can't lay the coin down because the base of scope is small and lightweight causing whole thing to tip over forward when you try to point the scope downward. On smaller coins it won't focus to magnify, I see them better using a regular magnifying glass which defeats the purpose. The instruction disk is not regular CD/DVD size. It's very small and will not feed into my machine so I had to pull out the old computer with the Rom that has a slide out drawer to ensure I was using the scope correctly. I'm using it correctly, it's just that this is a poor design. The instructions show a picture of this scope's base being attached to a larger base but there wasn't a larger one provided. Even if there was, it wouldn't help the focus or too narrow view problems. The only good features are the flashlight that is bright and the fact it's portable. The CAM doesn't work either. Too bad I waited until I had a bunch of coins to look at before trying this out because I definitely would have returned it. Now I'm out the money I wasted on it but I learned my lesson.

Perfect for occasional soldering
Perfect for the price. I bought this product to help me with some SMD soldering and did not regret.Sturdy design, good adjustable LED lighting. Plug and play. Windows 10 recognized and installed drivers automatically.Picture is what should be expected from any 2MP camera. Any step-up in sensor resolution would require significant investment.I am using standard Camera application. It is good enough for video and I don't care about picture or video capturing. My kids had a blast for a few days looking at all sorts of gross stuff up-close.One flaw, as everyone else noticed, is too light and wobbly stand which makes adjusting focus a little cumbersome. I am planning to replace it with all-metal, adjustable height one.Otherwise very good, solid product.

Great USB Microscope for tiny SMD and electronic jobs
Great tool to use when you need to work on tiny details. I bought it to help me repair my phone and it perfectly does the job!Easy to install, just downloaded the apps available and you can even zoom 5x extra.Very fine image details with balanced color and contrast. If needed, the app allows you to tweak them even more.I like the illumination and its brightness. Enough to do minuscule work like soldering SMD components.Very nice product for the price. I definitely recommend it.
