4200MGT Green Thumb Heavy Duty Metal Oscillating Sprinkler

I was a little skeptical at first that this would actually solve my short term problem of watering my oddly shaped lawn while I decide the fate of my backyard irrigation, but upon using it for the first couple times, I see that I've got a winner here. The adjustability is great w/ pressure, length and width. Moving it three times and adjusting for the particular side of the lawn I'm trying to water will save me hundreds of dollars while keeping my lawn nice and green throughout the summer.It's well-made and has some weight to it so doesn't feel like it'll move on its own or not sit flat on the grass. Metal base is solid and plastic doesn't feel flimsy but will keep an eye on it over time to see how the sun treats it.Overall, very satisfied and glad to have something that is so versatile to help keep my lawn looking nice until I can make final decisions on landscaping and irrigation design.

Woweeee!!! It's so great to find a sprinkler of quality! This guy works fabulous - and seems heavy enough to live up to it's 10 year warranty. And I have been through plenty of sprinklers - some definitely more expensive! The only improvement (and this holds for all of the sprinklers I have purchased) would be to clearly label exactly what each of the adjustments do. Once figured out, this sprinkler has superior options for height of shower, width of spray, and angles of coverage for both sides of spray. Truly it's the best sprinkler I have ever used!

I have the plastic Melnor branded one and decided to grab this metal version for another area of my yard. I love that you can adjust both the arc back and forth as well as the width side to side. I have a narrow wedge-shaped side yard 55ft long that tapers from 13ft down to 6ft wide and was thrilled to see that this unit can easily water that area! The width and arc adjustments are very easy to use.The flow meter is super helpful in my case since I'm using a water timer so my faucet is turned on all the way 24/7 yet that would be too much flow for my front yard. So I can get full flow on my side yard where I need the max throw distance and limited flow in my front which is shorter, while not having to adjust the faucet for each zone.The only thing I would like to see improved is the range of arc. I wish it would go lower so that I could get water below the level of my young trees, but the leaves 4-8ft off the ground block a good portion of the water from hitting the grass.Lastly, this is listed as Melnor, and clearly made by them, but is branded Green Thumb. Minor complaint but I'd prefer a Melnor branded item.

Width, flow and arc adjustments work well. The solution I needed for a long narrow side yard. The metal base gives this a little more weight over the all-plastic version, so it stays in place at full pressure. Build quality is in line with the price.*Note: you cannot adjust the width of the stream on both sides (L+R) independently. The red "U's" in the middle move together... I wanted a concentrated straight stream on one side and a more spread out one on the other, but that is not possible. Would be a great upgrade for future models. Anyway, if the price of this one is just $5-7 more than the one with the plastic base, just spend the extra few bucks.

I purchased a sprinkler like this one about 2-3yrs ago...same model. There are times that it would get stuck in the middle when the sprinkler is moving back and forth. I did have good success with it initially, so I decided to try a new one. I love it. I like the weight of the sprinkler and the many options to adjust the flow of the water. So far, no issues with the new one. I highly recommend this product.

It is dry and warm this winter in south central Colorado and my cheap oscillating sprinkler from Wal Mart was, of course, broken. I read the reviews, did the research, and decided this was the one. I have a big lawn and it took me two days in late November to cover it with this sprinkler. It worked fine. It is now early January and it is still warm and dry, so it was time to water the lawn once again. Half way through the sprinkler stopped oscillating. I have clean well water, no sand. I did not let the sprinkler freeze. I assume the plastic gears stripped or skipped. Can not make it work. No better than the cheap Wal Mart units.

Was great until stopped working. It stopped osculating. It starts at the beginning, and then stops and waters everything in one place making one big puddle.I was using it daily at 4am for 45 minutes for the whole season, and it was working like a charm until I have noticed that some of the flowers started dying. Then I noticed by accident, when I needed to water something during the day that it gets stuck in one position. Then, after some time it gets unstuck, and then gets stuck again. I did not try to force it as it can break stuff. Sometimes little tap could make it moving again for a few rounds.I suspect that the problem may be cased by a residue coming from the local water, but despite following instruction how to opened and flush any impurity from withing the tool, I still have the problem (well, I stopped watering by the end of October last year.)It is even worse because I wait for the customer response since October 2017, when I got the following message "Thank you for your email. I've looked into your message and assigned it to the correct department. Please expect a follow-up as soon as a Customer Service Representative becomes available."

This sprinkler has all the features I was looking for: flow control, width adjustment, and range adjustment. It seems well-designed and well-made. I liked that the base is aluminum rather than plastic and that the end nozzles can be directed to spray straight as well as at an angle. It puts out a lot of water in a short time and I didn't notice any oscillation problems such as getting stuck in one position.Unfortunately, the flow control doesn't shut the flow off completely and since I move my sprinkler a lot it's an important feature for me. Also, I need a sprinkler that will let me control the height of the water spray more than I was able to with this one.
