Ocean's 8 [DVD] [2018]

We are big Sandra Bullock fans but I had hesitated getting this DVD for a long time as had no interest in the earlier Oceans movies and hadn't seen them. But now this one was going cheap with few copies left in stock, I decided it was time for us to watch this from Sandra.I soon had the impression it must follow those earlier movies fairly closely, and no wonder I hadn't wanted to see them... I really didn't want to know how Sandra's character amassed her team of ladies - I didn't care what relationship she might have with them. All I wanted was to get on with the PLOT ... see the HEIST.We watched the movie for about 40 mins and frankly couldn't take any more as were bored rigid - decided to watch something else. It's the first time I've ever been bored in a Sandra Bullock movie. I didn't like the format of a heap of "top actresses" being foisted on us along with her - but I suppose this is how the earlier Oceans movies were set up (ie with male actors I had no interest in either as it happens). Heist movies are not our thing anyway and but for Sandra's connection, we wouldn't have bothered with this one.I would say it is for fans of the earlier Ocean stories - not clear to me if you can enjoy it if you know nothing of the original template .I will probably watch it to the end sometime just to see if I can take the heist part better but I honestly don't care about anyone in the movie other than Sandra. I think her movies work far better when she is clearly the lady star or partnered with just one other lady, and the story has a bit of poignancy, aka her many so enjoyable movies like While You Were Sleeping, The Proposal, The Lake House, the drama of Speed, the great fun of Miss Congeniality or the super interaction she has with her lady sidekick inthe splendid The Heat. I'd love a sequel to The Heat!I only give this movie 3 stars solely because Sandra is in it, otherwise it'd be only 2 stars at best, assuming the heist part is quite interesting but I've yet to find that out when I can be bothered to go on watching it. My husband certainly won't watch any more of it but he'll watch her movies that we like over and over as I do.

A must see movie loved it

OMG, absolutely brilliant. Thoroughly enjoyed this film. I did not see the twist coming at the end, had a massive smile on my face! Such a great film, hope they do another one

I can't understand the negativity on this film, some have said that it's obvious or predictable, well lets judge the other Ocean films in the same way. Because it's women, we have jewellery and fashion, because it's men we have casino's or banks....DUH! We play to our strengths not our weaknesses. It's well acted and not over acted, non of the more stupid or ridiculous antics that movie makers seem to think that women get up to. It's comparable to the other Ocean movies in the relationship between Bullock and Blanchet and Clooney and Pitt a strong yet downplayed friendship, nothing over the top. I enjoyed it as a little bit of escapism, so suspend your disbelief and enjoy.

Nowt wrong with the product itself , however, the advertised digital download code expired in 2019.......

I did think there would be a bit more oomph with the quality of the cast and far less frothy than it was and therefore I was somewhat disappointed in the film. I would say if women want to be treated seriously then perhaps they should play it a little more serious and less of the tongue in cheek innuendo … you can still have fun without being that bit over the top and sillyish if you get my drift. Some good scenes and saving graces by Sarah Paulson & Cate Blanchet thank goodness.
