When I posted my review, I never expected to hear from anyone. I did pretty quickly. I am pleased that they are willing to try to make things better. I had purchased two of these units and they are replacing both. I will try the new units. Hopefully they perform better than the other ones. A+ on the customer service from the seller.Below is my previous note:These things are junk. I have bought two of them for use on a Surface Book. One died and I had that replaced by Amazon. That one that was replaced would only charge if it was attached to the PC in one direction (these are bi-directional connectors so can go on either way). Now the 2nd one I bought, just died. Does not work on either PC. It is just a poorly designed product. I guess it is a good design for the manufacturer as they get saps to keep buying this junk.I can buy three of these things for the price of one made by Microsoft and be miles ahead on convenience and know that I have a product that will last a couple years at least.

Third review: Company sent replacement. Although it took longer than anticipated, this replacement works. Let's hope this one will last longer than 2 months. If it doesn't, I'll buy the OEM charger. Too much hassle at this point.second review: stopped charging after 2 months of light use. I only use this charger when I'm in class, twice a week. It has failed and only has a 6 month warranty. Asked company to follow up hoping for a replacement. If I have to do this every month or so, this is not worth half the cost of OEM microsoft, especially for a maxed out surface book 2.original review:works great. no overheating. half the OEM cost.

The end that plugs into the device is magnetic, like Apple's power cord, and should be able to be plugged in from either direction - cord running to the back or front. However, after 3 months, it will no longer power the laptop (MSFT Surface Book II) when plugged in with cord running to front BUT it still does charge device with cord running toward the back of the device. For the price, however this is still much better solution than MSFT OEM cord. Can buy 4 of these for one OEM charger. Recommend.

UPDATE: seller provided great customer service, even though the charger was out of the amazon return period. The seller provided a replacement charger that indeed charged the SB2 just fine. Because of the product quality and the great customer service, I've upgraded this to 5 stars. Highly recommended.PRIOR REVIEW: For my SB2, it won't even begin to charge it. I tried it on my wife's surface pro 6. You can get the light to come on, indicating charging, but it is incapable of fully charging it. It got to about 50% after a night of charging. Unfortunately this is one where it seems important to spend the extra money for the actual Microsoft version.

Excellent charger! This is my 3rd one. My two previous were "official" Microsoft chargers and the last one didn't even last 2 years. This new one has a better connector that's a triangle shape and a bit bigger than the "official" one so it's easier to connect. I like that the light indicator wraps around the whole end of the connector so you can see immediately that it's charging. My last 2 only had a tiny light indicator at the very end of the connector that either faced the ceiling or the table when you hooked it up. Delivery was on time and it came packaged well. Very happy so far.

Worked only once. The day it arrived I tested to make that it worked, and it did. But today when I needed to use it, it did not work. Tried different outlets, tried another SB2 all to no avail. DeadI would not purchase it again.UPDATE 10-30-2018:Jon from the company has reached out to me to replace the charger. I hope to have a replacement charger shortly. I appreciate the reaching out to help remedy the problem.UPDATE 11-13-2018I received the replacement unit and it has been working since I received it. Thank you, Jon, for replacing it. If you are trying to save some money or need a charger quick this will work, but it won't last. I used mine for almost 4 months and one day it would not connect anymore. Again it's only best as a quick replacement, save your money and get the real thing sooner than later.

My original Microsoft charger stopped working after 1 1/2 years. This one stopped working after 8 months. I contacted the seller who provided a free replacement very quickly. I hope the new one will outlive the others.
