Batmobile Cutaways: Batman Classic TV Series Plus Collectible

There are a lot of guides out there for the Batman franchise that delve into all sorts of topics. What I am interested in is getting into the nuts and bolts of the world these shows and movies created for us to enjoy. This book is dedicated only to vehicles. More directly it is focused on vehicles coming from Batman productions in the 60's. What does that mean? Just about every car, boat and helicopter from the Batman television show, the Batman movie and even the 1968 animated show. If you ever wanted to learn about all the Bat-craft from this era (and then some) this is the place.When I said you get everything I meant it. From the poignant to the ridiculous, you see them all. Here's the list of vehicles in this book:- Batmobile (from both the TV series and 1966 movie)- Batcycle (the one that appeared in "Not Yet, He Ain't" episode)- Batcycle (the one from the Batman movie in 1966)- Batboat (from the Batman movie)- Batcopter (also from the Batman movie)- Batgirl Cycle (from the TV series)- Jokermobile (from the TV series)- Kitty Car (Catwoman's car from TV series)- Black Widow Bike (from TV series)- Penguin's modified Batmobile (from episode "Not Yet, He Ain't")- Batmobile (from The Adventures of Batman and Batman with Robin the Boy Wonder animated shows)Each vehicle gets six pages of content. The first two pages give an introduction to the vehicle in question along with some conceptual design notes and other interesting tidbits. Most of the space on the other four pages is used for the cross-section graphics that also point out some notable detail. A specifications sheet and some additional details are also included in these pages. I wished they would have dedicated some more pages to the Batmobile, as it's the crown jewel of this book. However you do get LOTS of information that you simply will not from any other publication. Add to that all of the other vehicles and you really have a comprehensive collection of vehicles from the 60's era Batman.Computer generated graphics are done for the cross-sections, and while they aren't exactly super lifelike the graphics are bright and details are easy to discern. You also get full some full color photos and some blueprint images peppered in from time to time.The book is only part of the package, but it's the significant one information-wise. The other things you get is the one that makes the box so big compared to the book you get. It's the "collectible" model. It's the classic Batmobile done in die cast form. I must say it's the most details of die cast cars I have seen for the 60's Batmobile, but please note it's not a working toy. The wheels do not roll, so don't expect to get any serious playtime from this. As a display piece you're getting something pretty nice. The display case is set to make it look like you are parked in the Batcave, with Batcomputers accessorized around the Batmobile and a cool 3D-like graphic card giving you a cool Batcave background. If you ask me I'm only in this for the book. Now that they made this edition plus a separate volume for the Batman movies from 1989-2012 now would be a good time for them to make a volume on the animated shows throughout the years. Superfriends, Batman The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Brave and Bold. There should be plenty of material to make another volume. What do you say, guys?Batmobile Cutaways is a great source for all the vehicles from all of the television and movie incarnations of Batman from the 60's. If you wanted to really know how all these cars ticked and what was tucked way under their hoods you have a prime opportunity. Recommended for any tech book fan.

great book detailed drawings and nice car included

Purchased this for my husband and I can't say enough how cool this really is. The Batmobile display is really nice and has a 3D effect so that the batcave looks really neat. The cutaway book is awesome. So, if your special someone loves Batman this is an awesome gift - 100% super gift giving points, it's a win win for everyone!

A very nice collectible!

I bought this for the book (which I like), but the car has nice detail (better than Hot Wheels).

The car in the bat cave. The book cover sever different "Bat" vehicles including the foes of Batman. The diagrams allow you to see how they are made up.

So cool to see these vehicles come to life in this book, even obscurities like Black Widow's cycle and The Jokermobile, this is a MUST HAVE for fans of 1966 Batman Tv Series.
