HIKVISION H.265 8-Channel PoE 4K Network Video Recorder NVR, Embedded Plug & Play - DS-7608NI-K2/8P

As a security integrator I am always looking for a good price on Cameras parts. This is a good deal. Everything worked as expected.

I bought this NVR last year along with cameras to add to my business property. Once installed everything seemed to work very well, accept that I have had a password issue with the NVR and cannot access it. The reset process is far from simple and requires downloading a program from Hike Vision support and e-mailing the serial number and information from the NVR to Hike in order to reset the password.I began the process but received an e-mail from Hike telling me that since the product serial number is not from a U.S. distributor and was "purchased from unauthorized distributor(s) (Such as eBay, or Amazon)".They will not support it, and with the security in place, no way to reset the password, so the machine is pretty much useless. I will now have to re-purchase a new unit from an authorized dealer.

Easy to setup.

The product comes with no hard drive but can mount two inside the chassis. You can do this yourself and the connectors are provided in that regard. Easy enough stup if you are computer savvy. Not so much if you are not. Instruction are very light for novices. My biggest problem is to view the system on a modern computer requires jumping though some hoops. Chrome and Edge Browser are not directly supported as the are now due to no NPAPI compatibility and require an IE plugin for backwards compatibility once this is installed and the HIKVision plug in is installed it works. Not in any of the documentation provided though. HIKVision has had many years to upgrade their system to make it compatible with modern browsers but has yet to do it.

No directions unit locked unable to login connected through app and after i entered my info the unit info is going to another email account at yahoo.

Excellent product and good customer service.

Received item quickly and very well packaged. NVR was a snap to install and configure.The NVR apparently is not a U.S. version, it only has time zones +05 - +12 (all foreign countries) and the regions don't cover the U.S. In addition the unit doesn't recognize my existing ip 5mp POE cameras, very disappointing and it is unable to connect to the firmware server. I've been through all possible settings no luck, for what I paid it should be compatible w/any IP camera. I'm contacting the seller to get support and maybe a resolution to my issues.
