It's an awesome show if you are looking for more than just mindless zombie killing.
This show has had its ups and downs since the start, some seasons aren't as good as others, but overall I think the show is awesome. Never before have I been so invested in a television series' characters, nor felt it so deeply when they die. In recent seasons all I hear people complain about is the show being boring, that there isn't enough action or zombies anymore. Well if all you want is zombie killing go watch Z-Nation, the focus of TWD is the people, always has been. It's a survivalist story at its core, it's about the human will to live and examines how living in a world where the rules of society no longer apply, zombies are just a plot point, a setting, the creator of the comics this show is based on has said so himself several times. The thing I love most about this show is the character development, they devote entire episodes to a single character, and some may say that is boring, but I say the people saying that are the ones who are watching the show for the zombies and the action and violence, but you need so much more than that for a good plot. Those of us who appreciate the show for what it really is love the character development, and something no one can deny is you feel a connection to the characters and when they die you feel it almost as if you were loosing someone you knew for real. Something a lot of people don't stop and think about is the reason you feel it so hard when a character on the show dies is because of these "boring" character development episodes. Even if you don't like those type of episodes you have to admit that they are necessary, otherwise loosing a main character has no emotional resonance. I think the emotions this series is capable of eliciting is what makes it great, and I think that is what is going to make it run for years to come.

10 eaters outta 10
OK, maybe 10 outta ten is a little too much at this point, but it is TWD. I cannot bring myself to rate it less than that. The plots are getting dumber and dumber, and missing conversations we'd like to hear, but it is all we got here. Maybe I'm wrong, and humans really would be the most dangerous creatures in a world gone bad. Zombies are just speed bumps to the plot at this point. Half the time now I yell at the TV, and try to tell them how to protect themselves from the evil doers. Here's one they axtually did. MINOR SPOILER__For several seasons I've yelled at the shows heroes to put spike strips or nails in the roads to keep the baddies from driving to their front door and killing them. So what did they finally do, they put the spike strips at their front door, and NOT 5 miles away from their front door. That is just dumb, but maybe people get dumber by breathing zombie atmosphere. hahaha.Once a TWD fan always a TWD fan 'til the bitter end, whether the plots get dumb or the dialogue is wonky. The concept of the show wins in spite of its flaws. Like gasoline miraculously appearing in cars when no gas stations exist anywhere. Bullets for machine guns are as plentiful as wild berries? My suspension of disbelief does have boundaries, but this show seems to erase those goofy flaws in disbelief waving.Just buy and watch it, and is still fun.

Better than season 7. Still needs a little improvement to be great again.
This isn't the best season of The Walking Dead. It's got problems. It's much less boring that season 7, which just dragged on for freaking EVER without the plot actually advancing much. At least in season 8 the plot is moving along. The fight with The Saviors that was promised all last season is finally here. The plot development gets a little weird and unrealistic with King Ezekiel and his tiger. The first few seasons of The Walking Dead were much more realistic in terms of what a zombie apocalypse might be like for survivors. Now it's getting more fantasy like. But that's okay. Just watching people run around living in tents trying not to get eaten while they scavenge for food and supplied would have gotten boring by now. This keeps the show different. So I'm good with the crazy theatrics like Ezekiel and Negan and so on and so forth. What starts to get old is the poor prop and set design. There is a gun battle between 2 groups of people at basically point blank range firing hire powered rifles at each other while hiding behind corrugated sheet metal. Uh huh...sure. That would stop a rifle bullet about as well as a shield made out of Kleenex. Plus they are 2 groups of people standing 20 feet apart firing full auto weapons at each other...AND NO ONE GETS HIT!!! Imperial Stormtroopers shoot better than that!Stuff like that just takes you out of the story and the production looks sloppy and dumb. But that nonsense aside, the story itself it still working for me. If you overlook the ridiculously unrealistic physics of thin sheet metal stopping high powered rifles at close range and no one knowing how to shoot after surviving for 3-4 years in the apocalypse, the story about the people is still pretty interesting. At the core it's a story about people coming together to fight off those who would harm them. And it's doing a good job of showing fracturing among the heroes where they have different opinions on how the fight should be fought. So that tension makes for interesting storylines. Sure, the characters are a bit more colorful now than they were back in season 1 (barbed wire baseball bats, tigers as pets, etc) but again that's keeping the story from getting stale.I still like the show. I never miss an episode. But come on.....please make the gun fights more realistic. Negan has more lives than Duncan MacLeod. It's getting a little silly.

I've been a fan of The walking dead for several years. I've watched the 1st 7 seasons on dvd. i'm currently watching season 8 now. I have the whole series. It's one of my favorite tv shows. the characters are really awesome and now that the weekly series ended, Sunday nights are kind of boring now.
