Walt Disney's Nine Old Men: Masters of Animation

A fine tribute to the Nine Old Men
This book does not set out to be an in depth study of the Nine Old Men. It is published as a companion to an exhibition of their work. That being said, the book does contain Disney art I had not seen before as well as original art from their private collections. I consider it a worthy addition to my extensive collection.

Nice book about Disney's Nine Old Men
As an animator I've collected hundreds of animation books over 30 years. At $22 this book was a must for my library. It's interesting to read about Disney's nine old men and see their personal work outside of the studio. My only regret with retrospective works like this is when the artwork is reduced in size and you don't get to appreciate the line work at full size. I guess we just get spoiled by books like "Animation (Walt Disney Animation Studios: The Archive Series)" or Pierre Lambert's books.I prefer Andreas Deja's book on the same subject to this book. Deja's book is titled "The Nine Old Men: Lessons, Techniques, and Inspiration from Disney's Great Animators".

Wonderful collector’s item for Disney fans
This book tells the story of the nine original Disney animators whose talent and genius brought the world so much joy and laughter. They were and always will be legends.

Where's the text?
Once the reader gets past the introductions, this book is virtually text free. If you are looking for more than pictures and sketches, and were hoping for "an exclusive look at the animators’ lives", I would give this book a pass. Walt Disney's Nine Old Men: Masters of Animation didn't earn a spot in my extensive collection.

Mostly sketches inside
Not much information in this book if you were hoping for knowledge or history, mostly contains drawings done by these “nine old men” throughout their career. Not the best book, and if was able to peek inside before buying wouldn’t have purchased myself honestly.

Great pics and affordable
One of the more affordable options to owning a book in the nine men that help make Disney magic. Great pics and just a small description to go with each.

Muy usado y mal aspecto
Libro sucio, desenvuelto, y con signos de haberlo visto mucha gente, como salido de un expositor. Da pena.

As good as expected!
Very nice catalog. I went to the exhibition but is a big and heavy book to travel with.

Lots of great pictures
I bought a damaged copy because it was cheap but I am a bit sad about it now because I think it's a great book and worth the price. It has Disney sketches that other books don't and it's a better quality print than the other nine old men book. It has black and white photos, colour paintings, scanned sketches and they are all very interesting. I often open it. The artist info is very short but I didn't find that a problem. There was no way for me to visit or even know about the exhibition so I'm glad they released this book.
