Pretty accurate. Decent connectivity. Worth it overall.
This thermometer is connected to an app on a phone or tablet. The app display and cook setup is easy and intuitive. When used in a smoker, the connectivity is spotty. The device the app is on must be within a few feet of the smoker to get readings. In a kettle grill the range is a few feet further, and in an oven you get a foot or two more. Overall, between 2 and 5ish feet is ideal. If disconnected or not reading, it takes a second to reconnect and your right back in business. Magnetic battery compartment for easy access. Magnetic case to stick it somewhere out of the way. Overall impressive thermometer. Accuracy is within a degree or two, and the app let's you set your own preferences for individual meats.

Need a keep the MEATER probes clean
Once I figure it out that you need to keep the MEATER probes clean so when they are in the charger they make a good connection with the charger contacts, everything worked out great. A small film of smoke residue will disturb the charger connection, so keep an area of the probe that connects to the charger clean.

Happy wife!
My wife tells me EVERY TIME she cooks with this thermometer how much she loves it. So accurate. Our food was never better! Incredible functionality.

Amazing Results
Gave a set to my parents and they can no longer screw up cooking meats! It used to be a guessing game of how rare it would be and who would crap their pants first before bed. First time we used it we cooked a New York strip roast and took it off at the medium rare recommendations, rested, and cut into it perfectly medium rare and juicy from not temperature checking like I always do!Keep in mind that this is a pretty thick probe so it's tough to use on thinner cuts of meats. I still use my cheap temp checker for thinner cuts. Also, in my Weber old school kettle grill, the signal hardly goes 6 feet away when I have it sealed up. Not a problem for me but it may be a good investment to get the bundle that has the Wifi thingy to help connectivity. My parents grill has no issues going about 20 feet from the grill and also through a glass window.Highly recommend for all levels of cooks

Wireless meat thermometer!
I have now completed 2 cooks with The MEATER wireless meat thermometer and am quite happy with it. The MEATER is a simple probe with remarkable capabilities. My purchase was prompted by the purchase of a new outdoor grill which includes a built in rotisserie. With plans for cooking roasts and turkeys, I found the MEATER appealing due to the simple fact that there are no wires to deal with. Great, but how well would it work? The cost wasn't great so I purchased two to try out.The MEATER is a sturdy little probe and comes in its own charging case, powered by a battery. It turns "on" when removed from the case and turns "off" when replaced. It inserts easily into the roast or turkey, connects quickly to my phone app from MEATER, and gives continuous readings throughout the cook, including temperature inside the grill, temperature inside the meat, and expected completion time. By connecting to The Cloud with my iPad I can then take my phone further away and still obtain readings, even during a quick run to the store. The Bluetooth connection did drop on a few brief occasions, likely due to me being in the house and the heavy grill cover being closed, but moving my phone or iPad closer to that side of the house worked fine in re-establishing the connection. Then I was free to take my other device elsewhere as that connection was via WiFi and The Cloud, not Bluetooth.I questioned The MEATER's accuracy on my first cook, a prime rib roast. The MEATER probe gave me a temperature of 125 degrees, which was my target. Upon double checking with a traditional thermometer probe I found the inner temperature of the roast to be closer to 120 degrees, as was the appearance of the meat. With the full sized turkey however I found perfect accuracy with the MEATER probe. I believe that I was in error on the prime rib roast, having placed the probe tip too close to the solid metal rotisserie spit which of course conducted its higher temperature to the probe tip. See the third picture, above. This obviously would not even be an issue for anything not on a spit, but for rotisserie cooking be mindful of probe tip location. I should add, I did contact customer support following this first roast and they got back to me promptly. Much appreciated!I like the MEATER probe and look forward to more cooking with it, both on and off the grill. It will be interesting to compare the traditional wired oven meat probe with the MEATER probe. I will likely use both for a while just to compare, but I suspect the MEATER will win out!

Love these!
Since I haven’t had the funds to buy those fancy, new grills that have WiFi connectivity for temperatures and probes, I figured these would be great for my Traeger pellet grill for doing brisket and such. These are pretty slick. They have 3 temp readings on the display; one for the ambient temp in the grill, one for the target temp that you set, and one for the probe’s internal temp. In the app, you can set a variety of meats and they have default temps, that you can change to fit your preference. There is a slick feature that shows a line graph over time, so you can see the trend in the temp’s rise. That was great when smoking a brisket or ribs. Even though it uses this info to calculate the time till target temp is reached (another slick feature), it’s good to get an idea how certain grill settings and other variables affect how the meats cook. If I was to say there were downsides (when is there ever none?), they would be Bluetooth range and pairing. With Bluetooth range, I had to put my iPad in the same area as the grill; sometimes outside. But, what do I expect with such a small probe and it being inside a steel box, sometimes surrounded with aluminum foil. Plus, like some Bluetooth devices, they only pair to one base, like your phone. So, I have one paired to my phone and one to my iPad. That way, my phone isn’t locked down to my grill location. Oh well, small prices to pay for all the other great features. I highly recommend these!

Doesn't let you get more than 5 ft pretty disappointing
This thing only works about 5 feet and doesn't work at all if I come inside

Purchased as a gift for my dad
Dad loves these things, won't cook without them. Oven, BBQ, Traeger, crock pot... everything gets a probe. They work well and they last a long time. He's used his weekly or 2x/weekly for the last two years.

Too weak to penetrate tin foil
Bought this twin pack and thought initially it was very promising. App is nice, pairing was rapid, charging was OK (although it's a bit of a kludge to have an AAA battery charging the probe, rather than a USB connection...).Tried this with a brisket and put two probes into the meat.First issue is that the probes are rather fat. Added to which the 'nail head' end is sharp, and so getting the probe into the meat was not ideal - certainly less easy than the thin, wired probes.Once on the grill the readings were great. When i closed the lid (stainless steel) the range was about 6 metres for one, 4 metres for the other. After a couple of hours smoking I wrapped the brisket in two sheets of foil and... nothing. Even with my phone rubbing against the outside and over the probe, no signal at all. It's one thing having a short range, but quite another when it doesn't work through foil.Returned both units. Nice design, nice app, neat idea... just not yet ready.

Awesome product - makes cooking meat to perfection so easy
I’ve used the original Meater and Meater+ for months & love how easy it makes cooking meat to the perfect ‘done-ness’. I bought this dual pack to give to some friends as presents. I use them on the BBQ as well as in the oven indoors whenever I am cooking meat or fish. I have even monitored a cook from the pub by leaving it connected to a tablet at home & connecting to their cloud service from my phone. The range on the ‘+’ version is excellent and enables us to have it on the bbq in the garden whilst monitoring inside. The MEATER app is really simple to use & lets you know when to remove meat from the bbq or oven to allow it to rest & then when it is fully ready. It even gives you an estimated time when it will be ready. Love it & highly recommend!

Completely unreliable. Awful connectivity
Really disappointed in this...because I really wanted this to be great. But it just doesn't work. The probes lose connections all the time and re-connecting seems impossible. And if you're in the middle of a long cook, it's a bit useless if your probe cannot give you a reading.I found that the probes cannot even establish connection from 2 feet away on the other side of a patio door glass (when using an outdoor cooker). And if you are required to stay close to the cooker for this to work, then this is no better than a simple wired probe (which would be a hell of a lot cheaper too). This was so unreliable the first time I used it, that I had to take these out and replace with a cheap wired probe. Which worked much better.

Impressive and easy to use
I’m impressed by the result of the MEATER. The steaks I reversed seared were amazing. The MEATER app is easy to use and setup. During the first cook, despite my phone being no more than a foot away the connection was lost on several occasions. Which I have taken pictures of and posted. Hoping this doesn’t happen when I use them on the bbq. But for this I would of given five stars

Customer service was basically non existent
Absolute rubbish. The meater does not pair. The customer support is utterly patronising. Since buying it as a very disappointing Christmas present I have seen many reviews stating poor performance. I wish I'd seen them first.Units have been returned.
