Southern Bastards Volume 2: Gridiron (Southern Bastards Tp)

This is as raw and brutal as the cover suggests but the story telling is excellent and the artwork is superb. I am totally gripped by volumes 1 & 2 and cannot wait for volume 3. Please ensure you read the intro to both volumes as each intro sets the scene perfectly for what follows.

A great story. Highly engaging and complex characters. Hilarious and immersive dialogue. Brutal artwork that suits the grittiness of the story perfectly. Excellent twists and turns.I loved this second volume and the first just as much.An absolute must-read for any comic reader, or for one branching out from mainstream Marvel/DC comics.

At first I was a bit reticent about the premise, a prequel of sorts delving into the backstory of the main antagonist from book 1 but the same creative team continue to knock the ball out of the park and deliver another gripping tale.

Fantastic, rather than have a generic antagonist Jason Aaron gives a complex character that has his own tragic past. Such a great series.
