out of 11 seeds i have tried to germinate 10 have grown. make sure you look up how to start these seeds, the seed coat has to be nicked with a knife or they will do nothing. The seeds are designed to be dormant for long periods of time so even if you have had them sitting in h2o and didn't cut the seed coat they can still be started. i wouldn't recommend starting too many at once unless you have a lot of space at once. 4 plants took over a 10-15 gallon container i set up and i had to give away some plants for lack of room. very easy to grow once started.

I live in the Texas Hill Country, I used a mill file and scratched a hole in each seed. I planted them in an 18" deep x 4' round cement tank, that already has river irises and papyrus plants. They have not germinated, they've done zero growth. I'm totally disappointed. I was sooo looking forward to seeing these lotus plants grow and flower, and mature, oh well, maybe next spring I'll have better luck.

Quality seemed a bit poor, some seeds died or sprouted and rottened shortly after when there no changes in temperature or water quality, out of the batch 2 seeds sprouted fast but are now growing slowly. What's the best type of fertilizer for this type of water plant, it's suffering pushing smaller and smaller leaves.

Success!!
I started 5 seeds and all 5 germinated. I soaked them in warm water for two days before realizing that I filed the wrong end. The seeds were soft by the time I cut the other end and the sprouts all came out 3 days later. The seeds took about 1 month to get here from Hong Kong. Very happy with the purchase. The seeds are large and healthy looking. Make sure to break the shell on the end with the little round circle.

Didnt stay alive
Useless. Opened up the pod to free the shoot. Many didnt sprout, what ones that did died quickly. Do not reccomend.

Two of the 15 seeds I scarified, diligently changed water, and kept warm enough successfully germinated. Two opened but no leaves emerged. The ones that *did* germinate seem to be doing well.

Make sure to sand the dimple end of the seed until you see a tiny white circle.
I used a belt sander to sand the dimple end (opposite of the nipple end) of the seeds until either the little white circle was visible, or I'd clearly penetrated the outer shell; whichever came first.I then put the seeds in a cup of water in the window and changed the water once or twice per day.The picture is the seeds from one packet after 8 days. The two on the far left floated and didn't germinate, so that's about 90% germination. If you purchase these, keep in mind that they're coming from China and will take about a month to receive.
