Looks nice in photos but don't bother...
I don't understand all the positive reviews of this item. I bought two of these. The first was new. The second was a returned "like new" warehouse deal. The front face of this light screws off. This happened on its own during my third or fourth ride. Riding at night in traffic, I didn't notice that the entire front face had simply fallen off because the light remained on and working without the front face. The second light came defective, in that the button controlling the blinking mode didn't work. I therefore used the casing from the second, defective, light to replace the one that had fallen off the first light, but was unable to get the front "glass" part to stay secured in the front face and ended up having to give up on the light. When the light did work it became super hot after only a few minutes of use. I agree with another reviewer who noted that the light does not provide a true 900 lumen experience and is closer to a 300 lumen light in the real world. Compared to my Lezyne Megadrive ... well it simply doesn't come close. After abandoning this light, I ended up ordering a cheap Cree bike light in the same price range through Amazon. It turned out to be brighter, and has served me admirably for the last six months as a backup light. I would recommend that anyone looking for a reliable bike light for nighttime use look elsewhere. This item looks very attractive in photos but is built poorly and cheaply and has serious design defects, in my experience.UPDATE: A representative of the manufacturer contacted me and sent me two replacement lights, one of which I have been using regularly on night rides for the last six weeks. I am pleased to report that the new light has worked flawlessly, and my experience with it matches all the positive reviews of other purchasers. I value the independent control for the outer ring, which controls the blinking mode and provides crucial side visibility. I also appreciate the disbursement pattern, which is made to light the area in front of the bike. I continue to use my Lezyne Mega Drive as a second light, but this light definitely works fine on its own and I occasionally use it on its own. I also have not noticed any overheating, as I had with the one I originally purchased, and no part of the new light has become loose or fallen off. Moreover, last night I used it for 90 minutes during a night ride in the pouring rain and it held up fine during a 90 minute ride. At this point I can definitely recommend the purchase and use of this product.

Bright, inexpensive, excellent light
I have always used the more traditional, cheap bike lights on my bikes, both growing up and as an adult. I recently got back into cycling and needed to replace the last light which I bought at a Wal-Mart. Bike hadn't been used in a while and the batteries in the unit leaked, so I figured with the winter nights approaching I should look into a better item.My original thought had been to get a Niterider 750, which was a well known brand that came highly recommended from cycling enthuisiasts. That light was about $100, and had a very short runtime (~1.5-2hrs). This item has a run-time of 4-8hours, and a replaceable battery pack if I wanted to carry a spare. And at half the price, with so many positive reviews, I figured it was hard to go wrong. The item arrived quickly, and is fairly easy to set up, attach to the bike, and operate. It uses only two buttons, that cycle from hi-low-off for the main beam, and on-flash-off for the LED ring. The light is capable of being set to flash the LED ring while the main light is on, to increase a cyclists visibility to cars. There is, unfortunately, a bright glare from the edge of the light that will go right back into your eyes. I'm concerned about this affecting my night vision, and being a distraction. The main light is extremely bright on High mode (not sure if it's quite 900 lumens, but it's more than enough for my needs), and still very bright on Medium mode. Low mode is fairly dim. I imagine I would not need to have it on High unless I was travelling at high speeds or narrow, twisty road. Medium is likely going to be my go-to setting for most rides. The Low mode would be okay for low speed, well lit areas, but it seems to dim to light up a trail or use on dark roads. All settings are well diffused and will give you a nice, even light. There is no "Spotlight" effect on this light, which I view as a positive. The light is attached using a stretchy band. There are two sizes included to cover most handlebar widths. I used the smallest for my handlebars. The grip was snug, but not tight. It looks like it will hold up to road use just fine, although I'm not sure how steady it would be for rougher trail rides. I don't think it'd recommend this for a mountain bike, but for anything else it would work fine.To sum up:Pro:Very brightThree brightness modes for any occassionLong battery lifeEasy to attach/remove from bikeBlinking mode for increased visibilityInexpensiveLighting is evenConsCannot manually tighten to handlebarsSome glare from around the edges
