Easy to use, and does the job fast and no more dogs with too short toenails.
We have two little dogs, and they are mainly house dogs, although they do go outside in the yard, usually when we are out there working in the yard or garden. Thus, their toenails keep growing and do not get worn off.I usually have used one of those manual dog toenail clippers' but if the dog gets scared and jerks just as you are clipping, then sometimes, I ended up cutting the nail too close, and then it would bleed, or at least it would hurt the dog, even if it did not actually bleed.I tried my regular toenail clippers, and they only take off a little bit of the toenail at a time' so mostly that was a lost cause as well. This only grinds down the toenail, sort of like a nail file does with our fingernail. I tried it on myself first to make sure that it didn't hurt the dog when I used it on Chipper (the scared one) or Tootsie (who is maybe a little braver), and it works perfectly.I still usually go outside and sit on the front deck when I trim their toenails' but now the dogs to not scare the whole neighborhood with their yowling when I trim their nails ! !If you have found this review to be helpful in any way, please click the "Like" button for me.

Great Price through Amazon Warehouse, but can't use it because battery wont charge.
I picked up for $3.33 on Amazon Warehouse, it was a used item, though it was new, the battery will not charge for some reason,For the price, I can deal with it and try to come across a battery from someone local when I see one.I have used them in the past, it worked fine, you just have to take the time to get your pet familiar with it as it makes loud sounds.

Not a lot of time spent with it, but so far so good
When I read the other reviews, I almost decided not to get this item. I was able to get it for $3.24, so I figured worse came to worse, no big loss. I have to say though that I'm glad I got it (so far). The battery has charged fine to date, and has worked well in the product each time I've used it. Unfortunately, thus far I can't speak to longevity of the item, but it hasn't died yet. Previous to this nail trimmer, we were using the "Pedi-paws" trimmer. It will eventually get the job done, but takes very little material off of the nail and takes quite a while to really file it down. Our dog is a small one, and has small nails, but it would still take quite a while. He has never been afraid of the noise of the Pedi-paws, and he is not afraid of this one either. I believe it may be slightly louder than the Pedi-paws, more-so at the higher speeds obviously. The HUGE plus about this product is just how quickly it files the nails down. Even at around speed 4-5 it was MUCH faster. It took mere seconds to file the nail down a fair bit, compared to the 30-40 seconds we spent per nail with the other trimmer. And even after those 30-40 seconds, they still were not filed as far as we would have liked. The instructions state the charge time on this is 3-4 hours, but there is no mention of an automatic shut off, and we left ours charging for 4 hours and the light was always red. I believe I read where some people mentioned that it doesn't appear to shut off and not to leave the battery on the charger, but I can't verify that at this time.If this one holds out unlike many of the other reviewers, then this will be a great product.Pros:Easy to use. Just set the size hole for the nail and goWorks just like a dremel, so if you've used one before, you'll be right at homeMuch faster than I expectedRechargeable battery with charger (Pedi-paws uses 2 D batteries)Lighter than Pedi-pawsCons:Can be a bit loud at higher settings; will depend on the dog if it bothers them or notCharging seems a bit ambiguous.

Defective! Only one speed instead of several
Works well but it should have the capacity to have differenct levels of speed. The item I received is defective.

Waste of Money
I had read other reviews of the Peticure, and was excited to try it out on both of my dogs because I hate cutting their nails and risking hurting them. I was sorely disappointed in the Peticure however. Even on the highest speed, it would have taken me hours to file their nails down. And the abrasive file piece that covers the dremel slips off after every few rubs against my pet's nail, which means you have to take off the protective cover and slide the file back on, adding even more time to the process.MIGHT work on little dogs, but not on 50 pound lab mixes. Don't waste your money.

Follow the battery charging instructions carefully!
This is the second Peticure Elite pet nail trimmer that I have owned. I absolutely love this trimmer. I have a large lab mix, 95lbs, who will let me do just about anything to him! The one thing he never liked was getting his nails trimmed, that is until I bought the Peticure trimmer. Jackson is relaxed and calm when I use it on him.I bought this off of the Amazon site because it was less expensive than any other sites that I came across. Trimming your pet's nails with this takes a lot longer than just clipping them, but it is well worth is to me just to see how relaxed Jackson is when I use it. I love it because it is virtually impossible to over trim the nails or hurt the dog. It also allows you to leave a nice rounded edge to the nail, unlike the sharp edge you get with manual clippers. The safety cap has holes to fit any size nail which is great if you have more than one dog.The only cons I have are that the shavings tend to escape the safety cap and make a mess so I always trim Jackson's nails on the floor with newspaper under his paw, or just trim his nails outside. This makes for a quick and easy clean up. Also, I had to replace the file drums with a coarser grade file drum as I went through 2 drums right away after only one trim session. They are very easy to find at your local hardware store. The biggest caution I want people to know is to follow the instructions for battery charging to the letter! The reason I had to buy a second trimmer is because I blew the motor out of my first one by charging the battery too long. I would buy this product again if I needed to or as a gift for someone. It is really a neat little invention!!
