Part of Your World-A Twisted Tale

Fave Quote: Of all the things that should upset you about this situation, getting to do what you love shouldn't be one of themPart of Your World isn't a typical Little Mermaid retelling since it takes place 5 years after the 'twisted' events of the fairytale. The representation of Ariel, now Queen, relying on sign language is a storyline I've never read in fantasy before. This is a multi-POV story, and it's refreshing seeing POVs from animals and the villain, in addition to the heroes. The environmental message about looking after our seas and the animals living there is a powerful one. This novel tackles topics like overfishing and human debris in the sea, and seeing these issues from a mermaid's perspective is a creative take. Some of the language choices felt awkward, and I also had issues with the inaccuracies surrounding the ancient Greek and Roman references. As examples, Neptune and Hades don't exist in the same mythology, and Latin grammar was used incorrectly. Disney shouldn't have allowed a book they commissioned to be so poorly researched. However, I did love all the song references to the movie❌SPOILER WARNING❌•••••Some of my favourite scenes were the conversations between Eric and Ursula. Their verbal sparring was extremely entertaining. I'm not sure if it would've worked in relation to the plot, but I would've preferred it if Ariel didn't get her voice back so soon. It felt too easy, and it also cut the disability rep short. I liked Vareet's character, but I was a little disappointed Ariel and Eric didn't get the final chapter

GENIUS!!!!!!
Such a creative and thrilling take on the story. A must read for Disney fans. Looking forward to reading more from this author. And a side note for those commenting on the pages yes the shading is deliberate and personally I like the touch

A more mature Ariel
Recommended to all who like the little mermaid, you'll get to know a more mature, adult Ariel and it was a good development

Poor Printing
I can’t comment on the actual story as I haven’t read it and as it is intended as a gift I won’t be reading it. However the quality of printing is really poor with black marks at the top and bottom of every page. Is this deliberate? It looks very poor
