East Top 008K B-Key Harmonica
Well, from what I received, and in comparison to the others I have, Hohner/Rocket/Marine Band/Special 20 Lee Oskar, Weltbesten, Casey Jones, and other..., this is a Hohner Rocket modeled Harmonica from instrument to the Case it comes in. It's not exact in that the Rocket has the Top recessed and these Top/Bottoms are on top within that groove (stated in a way not to be technical, rather descriptive). Actually, it plays easier, out of the box, all Reeds. All need a little play in, but this played will out of the box. The "Tone" is subjective and similar (this is my only B-key), so challenging to compare. I compared it to the Low-C and Low-D and this is NOT a Low Octave Harp, just a "B-Key" harp. So, actually, to be fare :) maybe did not play "better", however as well. (The Low-C is low and needs a more gentle Draw, and all the rest. Different Keys have different length and thickness/tunes reeds. So, since purchase during our Global Quarantine, Mar 2020 period, - it looked good, clean and not played, but is not "Sealed"; none are really (some have been in the past some brand, but not these). - So, I did wipe it down as I unboxed it; don't want to suck cleaner regardless of what the bottle may say :) So a gentle wipe. I know there is some kind of sterilizer machine? probably UV-C light... However, me, I gengly unscrewed the Top/Bottom and in a fine Sprayer, misted it with 91% - 99% denatured alcohol and gently dabbed it dry; then left it for a time.So I can say, that, -- these ARE hand tuned, - the individual reeds may show that (take a little off and etc.), However all looked and played perfectly "aligned" no bindng, stuffness on Blow/Draw.So, I am happy with it. I'd like one in Low-B, but don't see any. And I don't pay Electric Guitar Level Prices for these since not a "harmonica player" so to speak. To many instruments to use as well :)I think that will help a few folks out who actually read these reviews.

Very good value
Feels solid. Projects well. In tune. Very good value for the money.I'm a working singer-guitarist who plays a lot, and use a harmonica on a few songs every gig. I usually play mid-level instruments in the $25-35 range for the keys I use the most (I like Jambones for the other keys--they're even less expensive). There are noticeable differences between different brands/lines. The famous harmonica makers are not always that good in this price range. I'm very happy with this instrument!I've discovered that harmonicas don't last forever. Professional players use top of the line instruments and replace/fix the reeds. For someone like me, it's cheaper to buy something like this every 6-12 months.

Much better than it looks in the picture!
I ordered this as a last minute birthday idea for a ten year old piano player. He was thrilled. It looked so much better on him than the wire hangar look I had imagined. It kind of sits on the shoulders and bends around the neck and up to the mouth. Not heavy at all, so I guess the thickness of the frame was about right. He said it fit great, was comfortable, and not sharp edges. Maybe a more advanced model (?) would have more bulk, but this is perfect for now. The ten hole ( ten dollar) Fender harmonica ( also on Amazon) , when secured in place, was planted right in the kisser! Hands free of having to hold the harmonica, the piano player could focus on the piano keys and simultaneously accompany himself with the harmonica. Both the harmonica ( sold separately) and holder are great, for the price, and for the quality. A go perfect together gift for the young piano man.

IMPORTANT -- if you have *LONG HAIR* you do NOT want to mess with this harp frame
I'm a big guy, 6'3" & 220lbs but I also have a size 8 head which is compounded by my massive Jewfro (see pic). I bring this up because this harp frame is made of cheap metal and even cheaper wingnuts that tighten the joints, left and right, to secure it in place, which snagged, then ripped, and finally took out a couple handfuls of hair going on +and+ coming off.In today's world, it prob'ly would've been cheaper for them to use plastic or a composite resin, either of which would've also been gentler on my locs. Also, the clamp mechanism that holds the harp in place is not very strong, so it doesn't have a good, secure grip on the instrument which caused it to shift around during play which was annoying. It left some kind of sticky residue on my Fender harmonica as well, but I was able to clean that off.Overall, this harp frame was an epic fail for me; however, your mileage may vary - it does cost less than other models, but that is not always a winning factor.I'm going to try the Hohner MZ 2010 Flex Rack Harmonica Holder,Black - as it boasts of a rubberized frame and has closed, round fasteners instead on wingnuts, it is more expensive but my wig's worth it.

Not bad..
Getting pricey... for a hobby.. My Second 008K...Returning to Harmonicas after a very long time away, I grabbed a few of those German branded ones..one old and one new to "me" designs.. I was very disappointed at the out of the box experience.Especially at the price of Harmonicas these days...I turned to EastTop 008k after seeing the price difference with positive reviews mainly.I was impressed by the feel and look.. And this was actually in tune "out of the box".Nice tone without having to fiddle with it.. no air leaks.. easy blow draw on lower half and a bit extra blow draw for the top end. I can live with that.. the color coating looks and feels fine..The drawbacks.. not really mustache friendly.. no reed replacements.. the top is plated brass and don't know the longevity of the color coating. Although I started collecting all the keys in this model. would think at the 20.00 mark is where these should sell.. Reed replacement and shiny stainless steel casing is really needed to be a dedicated fan at 25.00 range.. might look for knock off in lower price range.

True Sound a Good Quality
I have various brand names, 6 harmonicas in the major keys. The East Top Blues harmonic is probably my best in sound quality and volume, that's what I look for in a harmonica. Over time and use, I find the flutes will distort the sound so far the East Top is true to the key. However, I also like Lee Oscar, so both brands are good.
