Slacker Uprising [DVD]

A prime voice for renewal.
The documentary films of Michael Moore have generally been about issues: gun control ("Bowling for Columbine"), corporate power ("Roger and Me"), the inadequacies of the USA health system ("Sicko"). In this 2007 production, "Slacker Uprising", Moore joins the campaign trail in order to boost the awareness of the USA populace to the inadequacies and incompetencies of the George W. Bush administration in Washington. He is helped in this film by appearances from Viggo Mortenson, Roseanne Barr and Joan Baez. This he does with all of his usual panache and passion, down to earth seriousness and humour, with resolute intention travelling all over the US, "talking common sense to the common man". His methodology has rarely deviated from the incisive and well-understood and intellectually appreciated, not to mention the highly entertaining, speeches, to the down-to-earth language that brooks little misunderstanding. The cover jacket sums it all up: "Moore would stop at nothing in the pursuit to promote freedom, from passionate, insightful speeches to handing out free noodles and clean underwear". Bush won the 2004 election, but there is a good argument to suggest that Moore did his bit in preparing hordes of American young people for the Democrat victory in 2008, with the entry into the White House of the first African American USA President, Barack Obama. His clear desire in his campaigning was to arouse and inspire young people to see through what Moore obviously regards the pitiful premiership of George W. Bush, and for the nation to reclaim America's reputation and integrity.Another "must see" from this prime voice for political and social renewal in the USA, if not the entire world!

A slightly disappointing picture
Big fan of Michael Moore's work usually, I am a fan of the tough, straight to the point questions he poses to the powers that be and their sheepish replies; in this film however Michael tours America pleading with the youth to vote in the upcoming election, there were some entertaining pieces which saves it from becoming a 2 star review; I feel however this is more suited to an American audience despite his other work being wholly accessible.

Slacker uprising by Micheal Moore
Another intellingent movie by Micheal Moore, investigating about 2004 election in US and encouraging 18 aged to vote. The presence of some famous persons in the move appears perfect to complete the logical analisis made by the director. Still actual.
