Good flavor
As expected! The bottle is a little messy, but the flavor is spot on. We love to cook Indian food at home and this is a great addition to rice dishes. We've also used it in some unique cocktails. It's a small bottle but a tiny bit goes a long way.

Good strong essence and nice flavor
From a essence point of view this is one of the best kewra essences we have tried. The flavor it adds is very good and the best part is that we could smell the essence without even opening the bottle. So this one is a keeper in that aspect. Now, the part that I felt the quality lacked was keeping the bottle airtight to prevent content spillage. The bottle we got had a damaged cap and quite a bit of essence was leaked inside the package resulting in a bit of a mess that I had to wipe clean before I could use this.Overall, it is a good quality essence, a bit of quality control and seal-tight packaging would make this one perfect.

unique flavor; a little goes a long way
I am very happy with this brand of kewra cooking essence. The quality of the product, flavor, and packaging is excellent, as expected. The small bottle will last me a long time for indian dishes, and I am enjoying exploring new ways to add this unique flavor in western food and beverages.

Nice essence-only use few drops, confusing labelling
This is a nice essence than enhance the aromatics to your dishes. I love the fact that it is versatile and can be used in multiple dishes. Be sure to use only few drop, since it is very strong. Pricewise it is great since quantity needed is very small and will go long way. All the good thing aside, I am confused why the caution says tropical use only? What does that even mean? Possible mislabeling?

Not for me
This review is for the Hemani Kewra food essence. I thought this was going to taste like pandan (slightly vanilla-y) essence but it tastes like blue cheese to me. I am not sure if I got a bad bottle since other reviewers mention fruity/floral/slightly sweet. I would expect kewra to be sweet/floral. This is cheesey and funky smelling and tasting. Also the listing describes its use in desserts like gulab jamun. However, this seems like it would be more suited for savory use because of the blue cheese scent to it. It was not for me. I also was confused that it said for “tropical use only.” Overall, not for me. I eat and prepare plenty of Indian food but this is not what I was expecting for kewra.

Unique aroma, excited to try this
I love Indian food, and thought this would be a fun flavor to try. It has a light, fruity smell and immediately brought me back to times I have visited Malaysia and India. I bet this would add wonderful essence to a rice pudding or a cream sauce to put with fruit. One funny thing though -- the bottle says "for tropical use only." I assume they meant "topical", but that wouldn't make sense, as it IS intended to be ingested. Maybe they really did mean tropical, in the sense that you're creating a light and tasty, fruity "tropical" meal? Probably just an error.

Smells like nice perfume
This Hemani Kewra food essence is nice and simple, with only water, propylene glycol, and natural and artificial flavors. It’s made in Pakistan. The expiration date is about three years in the future. It comes in a glass bottle with a metallic lid. The lid was kind of difficult to open. The essence has a very appealing scent, sort of perfumy. I just learned that kewra leaves are actually used in perfumes. The essence has a nice flavor, although like most food flavorings, the alcohol is a little strong.

A new flavor for me. Not a fan.
The HEMANI KEWRA FOOD ESSENCE is a brand new flavor for me. I liken it to a bottle of vanilla or orange extract, in that it is highly concentrated and a very small amount is needed to impart flavor. This particular flavoring is seemingly used in Indian desserts and drinks.I expected a somewhat sweet flavor, and this is a little bit sweet. I wish I could describe it for you, but it is a completely unfamiliar flavor to me. This reminds me a bit of a subtle licorice with a strong mint flavor. There is another flavor I can't identify, which reminds me of Jägermeister. Jägermeister, if you aren’t familiar with it, is an alcoholic liquor that is supposed to have 40+ herbs in it.Anyway, I think this must be an acquired taste. I can’t say that I really like it very much. Therefore, it is a taste I am unlikely to ever acquire. It’s not horrible, but it’s not that good either.
