Easy to assemble. The recyclable aluminum can reduces plastic use. PETA approved.
We have pets so often end up using stain removers after hairball incidents, etc., and we’re fans of cleaner ingredients, so have been successfully using enzyme-based stain removers for a few years. Puracy has been making enzyme-based stain remover for a while; this “clean can” starter set is simply a new delivery system that will help reduce plastic use. This free & clear version had no obvious scent to my nose when using, but the ingredients will have a bit of scent if you really look for it.The kit arrived in a branded box. It looks like two pieces at first, but one of those parts becomes three before you put it all together again. It was simple, and there are slightly different directions on the box and can. Here’s my interpretation:Take the aluminum can with the white lid out of the clear bottle piece. Gently push up on the white lid with your fingers to remove it. Remove the “Do Not Drink” label from the top of the can so you may remove the red pull-tab to open the can. Gently place the white lid back onto the now opened can. Attach the sprayer to the white lid/can. Finally, place the sprayer/white lid/can piece inside the clear bottle and tighten clockwise. Done. The sprayer has two “off” positions (marked with X), along with a concentrated stream and a wider spray. Everything is solidly connected, the sprayer worked well, and the assembled bottle felt good in my hand. I think the only downside is that the can is opaque, but the weight and “slosh” of the liquid inside should be enough to judge how much is left.We treat stained items as quickly as we can, and we let those treated items sit for a while before washing. This free & clear formula worked well when used like that on a light stain, but we haven’t had any major ones yet. The aluminum can is recyclable and the rest of the bottle is reused when a new can of stain remover is purchased and snapped into place. It works, and the replacement cans should be easily available in person and online.Vegan. PETA approved. “Made in the USA. Materials sourced with care domestically & internationally.”

Interesting "green" product
I was a bit hesitant to try this Puracy Clean Can Laundry Stain Remover system, but intrigued by a more eco-friendly solution to one of the biggest banes of my household routine, cleaning products. In the past, I've relied on stain sticks for the occasional mess, which work okay but are hard to use for larger stains. I noticed that Puracy makes a whole line of environmentally-conscious cleaners, so it was worth checking out.The delivery system was a new one for me. The product consists of a very durable bottle that screws apart, allowing a recyclable can of product to nest inside and be replaced as needed. While it seemed simple, I didn't have an easy time getting the whole thing together. I found it a little difficult to snap the lid onto the can of cleaner, and was very nervous about spilling the liquid out of what looks like a tall can of soda as I tried to seat it correctly. It took me several minutes just to get the bottle back together and ready to deploy.Once I did manage to assemble the spray bottle (and tipped it a couple times to see whether the liquid could escape the nested can into the spray bottle housing - it didn't), I ran around looking for some items to perform a completely unscientific test. I grabbed a few bath towels, including one that had a small stains from a nosebleed, and treated the spots. Then I hit the jackpot, when I saw one of the household members - who shall remain unnamed - had left plenty of grease, oil, and grime on a few hand towels from (imperfectly) scrubbing his hands after a dirty work day. I happily sprayed about half of each dirty patch, apparently with little regard for how I'd identify what I'd sprayed after they were washed. Satisfied, I tossed everything in the washer with a healthy glug of bleach. My results were pretty inconclusive. The blood stains were gone, and even the grungy towels seemed relatively clean, very faintly cleaner on about half of each but I couldn't prove which side was treated. And because I used bleach, most of the dirty area was passably clean anyway, at least for "shop" towels destined to be abused again. I do believe the pretreated areas benefitted from the spray, but apparently only marginally better than the untreated areas. My biggest confusion about this product is the delivery system. I feel like this was a concept that worked better on paper than in actual practice. The initial cost is higher than what I would typically pay, and limits me to commit to the same line of products that fit into the sprayer. I'm most confused about the aluminum can and how it is superior to any other refillable solution, like a larger, recyclable plastic jug of cleaner. I also worry about how I'd get refills at all, because I notice that it doesn't seem to be available in my local stores and is now unavailable here (possibly temporarily), leaving me with no clear choices except to order directly from the manufacturer. Honestly, my laundry preplanning skills aren't that proactive. So despite high hopes for this eco-friendly product, and satisfactory cleaning performance, I'm just not convinced.

Gimmicky Packaging But Great Cleaner
I received this as a test sample and don't know what it sells for (listed as 'currently unavailable' without a price so I can't check) so keep that in mind. The supposed 'sustainable' packaging is a joke. This is probably much less environmentally friendly than your basic discardable plastic spray bottle. That's because it's a thick plastic bottle with a robust sprayer on it and inside you place what is essentially an aluminum soda can. Granted the aluminum can is recyclable but how many people are really going to do that? I suspect most will toss the entire sprayer bottle, especially since a spot cleaner like this will last people many months. Are you really going to hassle with ordering new aluminum can refills? I doubt I would unless the price is great (and I doubt that). That said, the cleaner itself is excellent. My wife and I both used it on various fabrics and it cleaned everything better than anything else we've ever used. Several whites have never looked better.
