Anyone struggling to overcome hurdles in their life or art will surely benefit from Andrew’s common sense approach to refining what we want -or don’t want - in our lives. Certainly one could use his recommendations to provide more focus on creating a successful third act. I also thoroughly enjoyed the creative use of research and anecdotes to underline this unique approach to how writing a script in 3 acts can parallel creating your personal story resulting in a happy Hollywood ending. A must read.

Blockbuster Living is so many things. For one, I think it should be mandatory reading for any aspiring screenwriter (perhaps a few colleges should get one board here). Ainsworth's decades of teaching film shines through as he educates the nuances of script structure in one of the most approachable & inspiring ways. A lot of these books can be dry or formulaic, but Blockbuster Living reads like a scriptwriter partner - allowing for prompts and challenging the reader to dive into the writing process with heart.As an aspiring actor & filmmaker, there were countless chapter that hit in a way that stirs creativity & inspiration. Any artist - be it filmmaker, writer, YouTuber, musician - could relate to this Blockbuster Living lifestyle. Ainsworth's personal stories are one of a kind, but written in a relatable context. His humour & vulnerability is charming. There were a few sentences that made me feel seen & less alone in the desire to create.This book will make you appreciate the art of filmmaking and why you enjoy the movies you do. If you love movies or desire to create - you can glean wisdom & inspiration from this book, and add go on to writing your own Blockbuster Life.

Part Screenwriting tutorial, part personal memoir; it all combines for a really wonderful journey from the heart of a true storyteller to us, the reader. Andrew uses his various life experiences to positively reflect on the cinematic journey that we are all on. Reading Blockbuster Living gave me the courage to reexamine my own life’s movie and make it my own. Awesome stuff!!
