Reflective Service - not a joy ride read
As you read through the intellectual process of the protagonist, Matti, you become painfully aware of the baseless priorities in which so many of us lose ourselves. In this way, you're frustration with such a blind and fearful stroll through life inspires beautiful questions one may direct inward. Alas, she is the mirror. However, such questioning does not go unaccompanied. With, a slew of more eccentric characters, you, as Matti, find yourself surrounded by creativity. morbid truths are answered by rebellious freedom riders, and you are inspired to recognize those gems in your own life. Those rare individuals, who push you to open up, and expose you to unconventional mysteries. This story does not "take you elsewhere" in the same way that Jitterbug Perfume seemed to. In spite of the introduction to some esoteric, celestial principles, this is a seemingly more grounded telling. So, do not expect to drift into another world as you read. It is by no means an escapist fiction, if that is what your looking for.I really appreciated the respectful manner in which the tarot is presented, as well as the research incorporated and resources provided.read the book with a highlighter handy, there will be seeds of wisdom that are so eloquently expressed. You will want to remember them.

Classic Tom Robbins
One of my favorite Robbins stories. If you've read him before you know what you're in for, even though this is different than any of his other stories. If you haven't read him before, are you in for a treat. A writer with a style all his own.

The Best of All Tom Robbins Novels
I am a huge fan of Tom Robbins and this is my favorite of all his books. I buy at least one copy every year to give to friends as a gift. Robbins has a beautiful and imaginative writing style that, though difficult to describe, is highly memorable. The genius of Robbins's writing is most apparent in this book, which is written entirely in second person and takes place over the course of only three days. Yet, the story is woven in such a way as to treat the reader to what feels like a grand, sweeping adventure into the world of mysticism and economics. Perhaps this is not a book for all readers. If you do not enjoy challenging philosophical topics, intensely strange characters, and conspiracy theories that can at times drift into the absurd, then this is not an appropriate book. However, if you do enjoy esoteric subjects, you will find the story so compelling it might make you want to travel to Timbuktu.

Tom Robbins at his Best!
I like the constant play on words Mr. Robbins is so adept at doing and this book does not let me down. A crazy tale that star seeds will adore. And I will never look at frogs the same way again.

Tour de Force! Start Take Tom Robbins best book and combine with a brilliantly nuanced reading by Barry Bostwick and you end up with one of the best audio books ever made. Robbins allusions never cease to amaze, and they're virtually non-stop, which makes listening to it over and over again a real pleasure. I've heard it at least a dozen times and each time I find new gems. His flirtations with history and mythology are fascinating. If you like Robbins, you'll like this audio book. 9, 90-minute cassette tapes! That's a lot of unabridged, in-your-face Robbins.

Excellent!
On par with his best novels, this one will invoke the same bewilderment, laughter and insight into the physical and metaphysical, human and cosmic...our unveiled, primitive sexuality, the ingenious and the wonderfully absurd that you craved after devouring your first TR novel along (with the ensuing consciousness expansion you experienced and swore not to squander). Enjoy the trip.

WE ALL NEES FROG PAJAMAS. THIS TOM ROBBINS NOVEL IS AN INSTANT CLASSIC!
I confess I bought this book as much for the evocative title as anything else. Frog Pajamas!!!!!!!!!!!! But when you come right down to it, who is a better writer in the old-hippie mode than Tom Robbins? I can't think of anyone. His books are instant classics-- delicious combos of observations, monologue, narrative, and fictional ingenuity. This book is no exception.

It started well
I enjoyed the beginning and the style of writing (had to keep looking up words in the dictionary and relieved to find some were invented) but around half way through it became hard work and the pace dropped off - well stopped. I made it to the end but was disappointed. The book was recommended by a friend and I enjoy trying different types of literature but this was not for me. I don't think I'll be trying the others either

Is he ok
Outdated, rambling, misguided and quite frankly dull. The best character was the psychic who disappears a fifth of the way through, the only reason I stayed with the book was to read more about her.
