all you need to know about grilling healthier meat, fish, and veggies
I own another book in this series, "Cook This, Not That," and have really enjoyed the recipes in it. When you feel like going out for some fast food, take a look in one of these books, and you will certainly decide to stay in, have a healthier and more economical (and better) meal. The recipe called "The Ultimate Burger" in that book is one I like a lot. So with that background, I came to this one in the same series, "Grill This, Not That." If anything, I like it even better. There are great recipes for the grill, but there are so many other features that make this book useful and unique. For example, there are comparisons between various store-bought foods and condiments, such as hot dog buns, barbeque sauce, mayonnaise, etc. There are calorie, carb, and sodium comparisons, but the most important comparison is the taste. I find it saves so much time not to have to do these comparisons myself, and it also points out products I may not have tried. The recipes in the book go even farther though: you can make your own barbeque sauce from the recipe in this book easily from ingredients you already have on hand, and it tastes fantastic. I also like the charts that show various cuts of meat and compare their fat and calories. For each recipe, there is usually a box on the same page that tells how to adapt the sauce or the method in order to use it for vegetables, fish, chicken, etc. That means you are able to learn a method, not just make one recipe. That's a great feature of this series of cookbooks. The strip steaks with blue cheese butter, and the steak-and-potato skewers are two recipes I enjoyed already, and there are many fish and vegetable recipes I intend to try. For anyone who feels in a rut with grilling, this books will definitely expand your horizons.I recommend this book highly, and it's great for any type of grill. Many times cookbooks for grilling don't take account of charcoal cooking very much, but this one has advice for all sorts of grills. It's a real find; I don't think it could disappoint anyone!

Great little book
The recipes in this book are worth the purchase alone, especially with all the great sauce/marinade pages. To top it off, the book goes over some basic grill types, tools and things along those lines. In addition to all that, it has a great run through of restaurant meals that could kill a horse with the amount of sodium and (usually) calories, not to mention sugars, fat and all the other good stuff. Another nice addition is a grilling buying section that reviews some good options for hot dogs, other grilling meats, marinades and spices. All in all, a great little book that stands on its own next to my other grilling books.

Great starter guide to grilling full of information beyond the recipes themselves
Bought this in 2012 and have used it many times to try new recipes on the grill. Most turned out as expected and tasted great - something the whole family has appreciated. Consider it more of a starter guide to introduce you to what you're grill is capable of, and it won't overwhelm you with long, complicated instructions. For me, a lot of knowledge gleaned came from food preparation tips; meats turn out so much better with the proper prep. After you've tried a dozen or so of the recipes, you'll realize that this book is just scratching the surface. Still, it's a fine addition to anyone's recipe collection for the price. Nice to know how easy you can prepare a variety of restaurant-quality options at home for a fraction of the price!

Good, but not grate
Pun intended. This is a good, utilitarian grill book. I like the way each section has a kind of overview chart - take one from row A, add two from row B, one from row C, mix and enjoy. I also appreciated the 'this vs that' parts where condiments, say, are compared. But it is SO limited. The recipes are good. Simple, too, which I like because once you get past five ingredients my eyes kind of glaze over. So, yeah, on the one hand it's a nifty little book. But it doesn't blow my skirt up. The reason is that, while it offers lots of general advice, the recipes are very specific, very limited and, sorry, but none of them interest me particularly.Bottom line for me: This is a book you READ, internalize, then put on a shelf.

Awesome book!
Had this book about a month. Love it! Used several recipes already. Not only that but there's awesome info about healthier products at the store and grilling methods. I was amazed at how many calories were in some of my restaurant favorites. My wife, post baby, has lost several pounds already. I had gastric bypass 3 months ago and have found with a little tweaking most recipes are do-able. My pantry and fridge are getting full of sauces, spices, oils and condiments that I've never used before and the recommendations for healthier options at the supermarket have been tasty changes for us. This book has changed the way we eat and it's healthier and way less expensive than going out to eat. We spend a little more at the store and a lot less at restaurants.

Big fan of the ETNT series!
I enjoy flipping through the pages of this book, and it was the perfect summertime gift for someone who loved to grill but was watching their weight. It is another great addition to an informative and fun series of books. As a side note: what I appreciate most about these books are that they give you the best option for all foods, including those that aren't so great for you. So instead of saying to swap some potato chips for celery, it gives you the best choice for chips. More information and knowledge is more power! Overall a good book with good pictures for summertime bbq eating!

Kitchen bible
Great cookbook and an avid fan of the entire series! Every recipe is delicious and easy to prepare and I'm just such a fan of the series to be able to still cook and eat foods that are typical "bad" for you but done in a healthy way. It's just how I eat every day!
