The Celts: The Complete Series

Across the great divide.
Educational and yet theatrical story of a race of people now scattered to the four or five winds. A touch of humour oils the wheels on a dramatic trip down a racial memory lane and an ironic vision of a not so distant past!

Fantastic and compelling watching
I watched this on tv in 1987 when it was first shown. It was great then and it has lost none of the magic. Frank Delany is a compelling host, steering you through as much of Celtic history as it's possible to cram into six 50 minute episodes. Yes it looks of it's time, and the picture quality isn't HD, but that matters not. Here you will find interviews with long gone historians, archaeologists, literary greats and poets, in locations such as France, Germany, Austria, the UK and of course Ireland. Not forgetting the music of Enya, specially written for the series. What are you waiting for?

But the series is overall rather boring, and repetitious
If you know nothing much about the Celts, you have a little more information by the end of this series, but nothing other than superficial knowledge. But the series is overall rather boring, and repetitious. And the presenter doesn't add much. Somehow it gives the impression of being rather scantily researched. Worth the money? Not really.
