20 Old Time American Tunes Arranged for Ukulele

A fun book, really having a nice time picking thru these tunes. Easy enough for beginner/intermediate players, especially with the downloadable audio files to play along with and use as a guide.

Great choice of music! Well-written! I love the selection of songs and the composer is superb in his arrangements! Great asset for anyone's music library!

I enjoy Rob Mackillop books and ukulele playing. I also like old American tunes. I must admit that some of these titles a little esoteric, but hearing Rob perform them is a delight. The minor complaint, and I mean minor, is that the arrangements were conceived to be played with a pick. Of course, you are free to use use fingers and nothing is lost. It is just that I prefer fingerpicking arrangements over plectrum. With that said, it is an enjoyable selection.

I like the idea of playing the tunes on Uke. I don't think all of these arrangements work though. It would be difficult to play some of these in a session, because the key has been changed to make them flow better as Uke tunes. If you play a Tenor Uke, you could get round this by capoing, but a Soprano Uke player wouldn't have this option
