My MacBook Pro all of a sudden wouldn’t turn on one day, I thought it was the end of its time and I would lose all my data. Took it to a computer repair shop, they mentioned that chances are with my 2012 model it was the hard drive cable that went bad, however they wanted to charge me $150 for the repair. Stunned at the estimate, I said I would think about it and left with no intentions of returning. Well that led me to Amazon where I found this part for $15, figured with YouTube I’d give it a DIY repair shot. Part came in quickly and the repair only took me 20-30mins. Saved me tons of money & for the last 8 months my computer has been running great. Solid product.

My new SSD upgrade was not working in my MacBook, but once the cable was changed it worked perfectly fine. Plenty of guides on YouTube

I never looked at the part number prior to replacement. However, I found it after receiving product. Luckily, It WAS the right one. It seemed to be a little Long/ Loose with the IR Sensor ribbon being tightened down with the screws. Not sure if I didn't bend the cable in the right places. However, the overall use has not disappointed me yet.

For the price this fixed 2 of my issues. My drive stopped reading and the ir sensor was dead from apple but this helped. Please for my sanity next time dont fold the cable when you ship it

My friends mid-2012 A1278 MBP booted to the flashing question mark folder icon. I assumed it might be the HDD cable. Sure enough, this cable fixed the issue. Worked exactly as advertised.
