Brilliant insight into the history of the 1970s iconic nightclub.
I knew little of the history of Studio 54, its short life and its untimely demise. Colourful, funny, engaging & sad. Highly recommended.

A remarkable insight to one of the greatest eras in music and culture
This is an excellent documentary. Very well put together, with all the key personnel who were actually there and deeply involved.Behind the backdrop of music and lights, was and is a story of boom and extravagance. Of decadence and even selected clientele. If the owners didn’t like you, you were turned away at the door. (this reminded me of the policy adopted by The Blitz Club in London in 1980. Incidentally I did get into the Blitz purely by default - but only once. Spandau Ballet did perform I think, but I’m sure the person I remember was David Sylvian of Japan?)This is the story of the real Saturday Night Fever, and I am first to agree this film is a superb companion.Good to see Nile Rodgers interviewed in this new film. Shame he wasn’t given more footage in the film as his “Chic” story is one that completely underlined the whole scene in New York in 1979 and so relevant to the Studio 54 thing. The film is largely a story of behind the scenes and recriminations, but never detracts from the central theme - it was all about party, culture, social commentary and society divides.I recommend this film to anyone who knew the scene, knows the music or even studying the counterculture of the era.

Very interesting documentary
I wanted to watch this as I read lots about this nightclub in my teenage years. Glad I did - I knew nothing about the owners of the club and even their stories were really interesting, let alone what happened in the club. Definitely worth a view!!

Brilliant! - The Story As told by Ian Schrager
For many years, Ian Schrager (one of the founding partners of Studio 54) point blank refused to talk about Studio 54 to any members of the press. Now, nearly 40 years after he was sent to prison, he has decided to tell the story from his point of view. I have been a huge fan of Studio 54 history for over 20 years, so to finally hear what happened directly from Schrager is brilliant. He talks through how he met Steve Rubell, how they got the club up and running and the initial golden days of the drug fuelled celeb parties, which made the club THE place to be on a night out in New York.He then moves over to the darker side of the story - the drug dealing, tax evasion, cash skimming and eventual early morning bust by the IRS and the police, which finally saw them sent to prison. If you’re a fan of Studio 54, this documentary is a must! Loved it!

Continuous Party
This documentary has lots of footage of revelers at Studio 54, topless women, transvestites, a core of gays, the beautiful people and Truman Capote, dancing to disco records. The celebrities are shown in still photos and comprise mostly the usual suspects: Liza Minnelli, Andy Warhol and Bianca Jagger. Primarily the story is about the two guys who developed the club. For something so glitzy, this documentary is curiously lacking in atmosphere and glamour, but well-told.

Excellent documentary
I really enjoyed this documentary as it was fact based and it was not recreated in anyway. All the footage and images were from the time. It didn't relay heavily on interviews either, with only a few thrown in. It was really educational and great to watch and I would definitely recommend.
