CURT55384 Replacement Vehicle-Side Custom USCAR 4-Pin Trailer Wiring Harness, Black, 6 x 3 x 9 inches

I bought this to use as wiring to tap into the reverse light on my OPT7 Paralux Triple LED Light Bar. The light bar comes with the reverse wire separated and you have to tap into your vehicle someplace to make the reverse light work. This harness was the answer! Instead of tapping into the taillight or factory harness I wanted to use something that would be just as effective without forever splicing into the factory wiring. After reading forums I found this very harness as a recommended alternative. The vehicle I perform this method on was a 2017 Ram 2500. The lightbar wiring length was not generous and so having this harness saved the day as the trailer plugs are on the passenger side of the truck…while the lightbar wire didn’t reach all of the way! Good thing I got this harness. There’s some nice videos on YouTube for installing this Curt product. It’s relatively simple; I didn’t have to take off the spare tire. Apply dielectric grease and plug it in! Route your wires and test first before securing them or tapping into the wires for any reason. Another benefit is the wires fromAuxiliary wiring such as with the LED lightbar are nice and hidden and don’t come around the bumper and plug in. Now there’s more room for the use of the trailer harness! If you do use this to tap into the reverse wire, the reverse wire is the middle white wire….the one right in the middle! This item worked beautifully to replace my seven pin receptacle and allow me to plug back into it and gives off a four prong lead so that I could adapt camper shell wiring for my brake light just works amazing without having to splice

Easy installation

Worked great on my 2020 Silverado, liked that I didn't have to splice into factory wiring, easy to install

So first thing first, between the two large connectors is literally only 3-4 inches of very stuff wire, makes it impossible to do wire management. After the spilt is 4 ft of wire to the 4 pin harness, I'm using this to hook up a light bar on my truck which has its own 4 ft of cord so, I capped the length at 2 ft ordered 2ft of 7 pin trailer wire and went to town.The middle wire is the reverse if you needed it for a light bar, they give you at least 6ft of that with most light bars, so no need to make it more than 6 inches or so. They do not follow the standard for write coloring charts so reverse, 12v, ground and brake controller are all white wires, it can get confusing, I used post it note tags (just cut the sticky part of a post it and use that.)Ended up getting two of these the first one the reverse wire isn't secure in the harness and keeps losing connection, but I'd already cut into that wire. So the second one I immediately hot glued all the wires into the harnesses as soon as I got them, just took of the grey part hot glued and replaced the grey part, they don't move now. All that is left now is to get wire loom, at least 3/4 inch.To be honest, I think Curt should make one exactly like this, specifically for people hooking up light bars, they make custom wiring harnesses and it is a rather common thing people are looking to get set up. Added a final product, as you can see, it is a much better setup, the small l.pplug goes on the bumper the rest can be managed and organized out of the way

Perfect product for someone looking to install any kind of light bar, camera or truck accessory.Completely eliminates the need to cut into your factory wiring harness, additional 4 pin connector let’s you simply plug in a light bar without having to splice into the harness or have the wiring hang out of your trailer connector.The only improvement I would like to see is for the reverse light wire of this harness to be lengthens by a few inches because this is the only wire you need to splice in order to connect the reverse light wiring for a light bar or backup camera. Still fairly easy to do but a long reserve light wire would make this product perfect!

I bought this harness to hook up a rear light bar. This was really plug and play; exactly what you would expect from Curt. I rated the "sheerness" as a one star because the wires and all other pieces are completely opaque. I'm not sure why Amazon included this rating point but it struck me funny.
