Great vibration hour-meter IMO.
I was skeptical about this meter after reading some of the reviews, I very happy that I bought it. It came with zero hours on the meter as expected and has a small tab that you remove once mounted. It starts adding hours only after the tab is removed. I have it mounted on a Porter Cable vertical oil bath/piston air compressor. It works as expected and has been accurately counting hours since installed. I've only observed it working while the compressor is running, not "when a bus drives by" like some reviews I read. The cost of the meter is small when compared to the cost of the compressor. It's cheap insurance and helps me to track maintenance on the motor. I have a similar meter installed on my Honda generator but it uses a signal off the spark plug wire, same brand/manufacture and its been working great for several years. I expect the same from this unit.

Nice and works well
I placed this on my Air Venturi Nomad II PCP Air Compressor and it has worked well keeping track of its use.

Vibration Hour Meter for Gas Engines too
Does what I was expecting it to do. I got mine mounted on a Ryobi 4-stroke gas blower as the ignition wire is too short and is in a too tight of a location to get at the ignition wire for the use of other hour meters. Though I left the 2 thin wires on the hour meter as I notice reattaching those wires stops or "freezes" the hour meter when the tool is being moved. Then when I want to run my gas blower, I un-attach the wires and the hour meter resumes the counting of the run time. I need one for my McCulloch gas chain saw and there I will attach those wires to a switch for more convenience.

Test the Meter Before Permanently Mounting it with Screws.
I strongly recommend you first test this meter, using a temporary mount of tape or velcro, before drilling holes and permanently mounting it with the provided screws. The meter I received was defective even though it initialized and the display zero'd out exactly as the instructions described and seemed to be perfectly functional. I am glad that I did NOT just trust it at that point. After zeroing it, I next attached it with velcro to a flat horizontal surface, for maximum sensitivity, as per the instructions, on a new 4-stroke inverter generator. After 5.5 hrs of run time it still registered 0.0 hrs. Although the meter was visibly vibrating like crazy from the generator, it didn't register any time. I thought maybe the velcro was cushioning it too much, so I separated it from the velcro hook portion and placed it directly on to the generator surface... still nothing. I returned it for a refund. I am assuming I am just the unlucky customer who received the "1 in a thousand" defective meters, otherwise I would give it 1 star. It is a great product concept and the waterproof design is why I originally purchased it.

Didn’t work for my application - unfortunately
Purchased to use to monitor run time on portable generator. Unfortunately, the amount of vibration the generator created was not consistent enough to give a valid count. Great product, but for my use, did not work. Had to return.

Does what it says it does...too well
Nice device, however it is so sensitive that pulling a car in next to the snow thrower it is attached to results in it activating. New snow thrower, never used, now reads .3 hours with this meter attached.I had previously used the type of meter that ran off the spark plug wire and may go back to that style so that I get accurate readings.

Works as advertised
I purchased this meter for my new air compressor. At this point it seems ideal for the application (stationary motorized equipment) and appears to work as advertised. It seems well built and rugged. I tried running several loud engine driven items (lawn mower, rotary tiller) next to it and couldn't activate the meter, so it would appear that the meter will accurately measure the operating time of the compressor.
