Rode Smartlav+ Lavalier Microphone for Smartphone with SC1 Adaptor

My wife needed a high quality microphone to conduct her work online during the lockdowns. We tried shotgun mikes, built-in mikes, webcam mikes, and while they all technically worked, the sound quality wasn't great.When you're talking to a "room" full of people about a complex subject you need all the parts of your voice to come through clearly so that you're well understood by the most people. If your mike drops high-pitched frequencies, it'll miss off "t" "s" "ff" and "sh" sounds. If your mike drops the lower tones, that's where you do most of your gestural or 'hinting', and a lot of subconcious signalling is subvocalised in the lower range.therefore, having a mike that suppresses room noise and clothing noise, but picks up and locks onto human speech, rendering it at high quality is very important. These mikes are meant for broadcast studio work. They work brilliantly outdoors as well, and are designed for people like us who don't have a huge amount of equipment other than a laptop.You just plug this in, clip it on, and off you go. listening to someone speaking through this, compared to a low-quality webcam is night-and-day. The speech is fuller, more rounded, more well balanced and easier to comprehend.I will say, however, that if you have a top-of-the-range webcam, like a C935, the mike in those is excellent. You'll be struggling to hear the difference between a top-end webcam and this mike if you're sat right in front of the computer and don't move. As soon as you move or need to stand in front of a whiteboard,however, you'll be outside the optimal cone of operation for the C935 and you'll instantly find the difference striking.you can get extension cables for these which are VERY fine, and you almost can't even see the wires on a standard def webcam, even when it's trailling from the hem of your jumper to the laptop in-frame.I'm very impressed by this mike. It's sturdy, well made and has excellent sound quality.
