Greatest Hits 1

Of the 17 tracks on this disc, 7 are from what I consider to be Queen's finest work - their first 5 albums: 'Queen' (1973), 'Queen II' (1974), 'Sheer Heart Attack' (1974), 'A Night At The Opera' (1975) and 'A Day At The Races' (1976). If you want the best of Queen, those are the albums to get. They continued to write and perform many hits after this but only one really stands out for me - 'The Show Must Go On' is not on this disc, however it is on both Greatest Hits 2 and Greatest Hits 3. Though only one more song from the 'Magnificent 5' appears on these latter discs, altogether the 3 compilations make for a decent selection of their entire catalogue, and at a reasonable price.

This is arguably my favourite Greatest Hits collection of all time (OK, I'll admit that The Beatles' blue & red albums are up there with this one as my personal top 3). I will never forget the day when I first heard this. I was just a young boy and we visited some family friends. My friend (a few years older than myself) put this LP on his dad's high fidelity sound system (I can't remember what they had, but it was pretty good). At that stage I had never even heard a Queen song before (hard to believe), so I was being exposed, for the very first time, to both the amazing music and the sound quality of a proper hi-fi. For the first time I heard the detail of each instrument, the magnificent Freddie and Queen vocals and that dramatic sound stage. That moment changed my life and made me acutely aware of what both music & audio quality were all about. The sound from the latest 2011 remaster is what sets this collection (and Vol.2) apart from any previous digital editions, including the DTS96/24 & LPCM DVD version of the early 2,000's. The sound has depth, warmth and clarity and covers a wide frequency range which is so different to both the original transfers and the terribly sounding high flat frequency CD's & DVD's issued at the turn of the millennia. This is as close to the ol' vinyl sound that you will get (for now). Listen to it on a proper hi-fi with proper speakers though; a MP3 player just won't do it justice...

Had this on CD for many years. Decided to get the LP. The sound is excellent and Amazon delivered quickly in perfect condition. What else can be said about Queen’s greatest hits. One of the all time great rock bands. Absolutely brilliant! I love it.

De cd zelf ziet er goed uit! Helaas is deze cd geleverd met een zeer beschadigd doosje. Er zitten krassen op van waarschijnlijk een mes en verder is het plastic op verschillende plekken kapot.

Me encantó esta edición del Greatest Hits I de 2 LPs y con portada Gatefold realizada para "empatar" la versión del Greatest Hits II que, ya en su origen, venía con 2 LPs y portada Gatefold. Excelente definición del sonido. Muy satisfecho con esta compra para poder ahora guardar como reliquia el album original que tengo de 1981.

Excelente prensagem, disco duplo maravilhoso, só os clássicos. Chegou perfeitamente e antes do prazo.
