There isn't a strap for you waist. Personally I would look for another bag. I also open water swim and would trust this bag with anything in it. I have found whilst kayaking that the zip pocket wasn't watertight.

hi thanks for the question, if its light camping gear, a 20 litre should do it but if not a 30 litre would be a better choice.

It is a good quality good size for putting on your back lightweight when empty and totally waterproof
