Ben Stiller stars as Brad, whose satisfying career, sweet wife and comfortable life in suburban Sacramento aren't quite what he imagined during his college glory days. When he accompanies his musical prodigy son on a university tour, he can't help comparing his life with those of his four best college friends who seemingly have more wealthy and glamorous lives. But when circumstances force him to reconnect with his former friends, Brad begins to question whether he has really failed or if their lives are actually more flawed than they appear. Also stars Jenna Fischer (The Office), Luke Wilson (Old School) and Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex).Bonus Content:A Look at Ben Stiller as BradA Culture of Comparing OurselvesMike White on Directing His Own ScriptThe Story of Brad's Status]]>

A Gleaming Gem
BRAD’S STATUS, starring Ben Stiller, is a gleaming gem that shouldn’t be missed. I started laughing from the opening scene and continued doing so until it dawned on me that I was crying. Small, modest and utterly without pretense, it achieves a level of truth and emotional impact that is far beyond that of more exalted studio films. Michael White’s script is a wonder and the cast is stellar. Ben Stiller delivers the best performance of his career (his narrative voiceover alone, is probably the best I’ve heard) and Austin Abrams is profoundly good. He touches upon an authenticity of the rarest kind.(Besides writing the screenplay, Michael White also directed and plays a role in the movie. I’m blown way by the fact that he also wrote BEATRIZ AT DINNER, another film I found impactful in 2017.)

Underrated Winner
"Brad's Status" captures beautifully and brilliantly the process and conscious states anxious parents go through in wanting their children to attend elite universities and colleges. I think parents who have children approaching college age would find this movie most appealing and illuminating.

Great, overlooked film!
A truly great film, sad that it flopped at the box office, maybe 20 years from now it will be deemed a classic.

A beautifully done character study between father and son
A beautifully done character study between father and son. It is fascinating to watch the dynamics between the two as dad is not so sure that his son thinks highly of him (which is not so), and only confirms dad's belief that he never measured up to the people he hung around with earlier in life.Overall, this is a solid film to watch.
