Passive Di direct box 1/4" instrument to balanced & unbalanced XLR

I’m not a pro, I don’t buy pro gear, I generally try to get the most bang for my buck especially with recording equipment. I can’t compare this to other more expensive DI boxes because my only other piece of gear that comes close to this is my sans amp bass driver and I only use that with my live rig. What I can say about this box is that it works like a champ! It’s quiet, it feels pretty tough, and the connections are solid. The 1/4 jacks are plastic and mounted to the board but I’m not worried about them in the long run because this box can be easily replaced.

First off, let me say this is a low cost Chinese made passive DI. If you are expecting Countryman or Radial, you're in the wrong listing. However, having said this, this is a very good unit in its class. I've been a professional theatre sound guy for over 20 years and bought one of these for a light-duty additional to my personal inventory. PROS: Heavy, well fitted, sturdy metal housing, with screw assembly (you CAN get inside!) Transformer isolated, appears to be the proper impedance conversion Paralleled 1/4" jacks (means you can link out to an instrument amp, or Y both stereo channels together) Simple switched resistive attenuator to allow level correction Ground Lift switch CONS: Cheap plastic jacks - not sure how well they'll stand up Jacks are mounted directly to internal PC board - may be a pain to replace All in all, hard to beat for the money for light or intermittent use.

This is your ultra-budget choice. I tried the *really* budget Pyle ones (which were on sale as low as $13 at one point) and the QC issues were grotesque...some were even screen printed backwards. These (while having the same form factor, and possibly sharing the same casing) have always been reliable and i have bought a few. I have not viewed the internals of these but believe them to be different than the others as well just based off sound quality. As a sound guy for multiple bands...These are the ones that I will "donate" to my regular musicians/bands that need them (Yes, i pass the responsibility to bring them on to the musician...i got plenty of my own to keep track of and bring...) My regular DI is the Donner. I have a bunch of those and they have found a home in my gig box as the goto...just given the size...those things are tiny in comparison to most and i can fit a bunch and they have never failed me...these ones have not failed me either, but i wish they put that tech into a smaller package.

This is a great device and also has a low price. I could use this device exactly the way I wanted to. Which is to Plug in the speaker output of a 5 watt tube amp and get the sound of both the preamp tube AND the output tube. I have the attenuator at 20db so that I can take the the signal into a mixer and/or a USB audio interface without fear of blowing everything up. The Pyle has the feature of the 20db attenuator but the signal is all garbled at that setting. Finally, I can do what I intended! Thank you.

I use this for playing live. We use it either for acoustic guitar to PA or running the electronic drums from the 1/4" out to this DI to the PA. I love passive DI boxes and this works as well as any of the more expensive DI's I have used in the past.

I was pleasantly surprised. I bought this as a DI for a keyboard at my church. I wasn’t expecting much. I thought that I might have ground issues. Not so. These performed very well. The sound reproduction is on point. No distortion. No grounding issues. Just solid performance. The most wonderful thing is the low price. Very great value!
