Wind in the Willows (Wordsworth Classics)

As an Adult Reader.
This short book is a fun and enjoyable read and is also very beautifully written. The children of the early 20th century must have been more articulate than the average modern-day adult for some of the more purple passages (of which there are many). My favourite chapter by far was, 'The Piper at the Gates Of Dawn', which stands out starkly against the rest of the book as a mythological, hallucinatory side-tale in which the Great God Pan is encountered in the woods, playing his magical pipe. There is a somewhat eerie feeling to the passage, as though this innocent story of talking animals has suddenly been invaded upon, just for a brief moment, by the world of the Gods (and in this particularly unsettling case, a horned-god with a mocking grin on his face).Certainly worth a read.

A Classic book for young and old.
A favourite book. This is a replacement for an old paperback and the presentation , the cover binding is beautiful but unfortunately, it lacked many of the original illustrations which added to the atmosphere of the lovely descriptive writing. Disappointing with those omissions.

In the Year of the Rat...
We celebrate each Chinese New Year with friends and a feast, and I bought copies of this to give to each couple since Ratty has always been the hero of the piece for me. It's eminently re-readable: charming, humorous, insightful and moving in equal parts. A book for all ages and age groups, it was a joyous thing to see Chris Packham choose this as his favourite on that excellent series: Books That Made Britain.

Damaged cover
I’m disappointed with the transportation for which I paid more than 50£ for the books to arrive like they’re old copies. It’s really sad because I was looking forward to this collection.

Lovely original book
Beautiful book. Lovely hardback. It's a great story if you want the original. I bought it to read to my class of 6 years olds and it wasn't suitable for this age group

Wordsworth Collector's Edition
I purchased the Wordsworth Collector's Edition - which are attractively bound hardcovers, with good size print. They are priced around six, to seven pounds, and represent great value for money. I really do recommend these editions.

A classic
Wind in the willows is a classic books that I until now have never read.I have seen it on the tv in real action and cartoon form. But this week I decided it was only 1.99 so buy it and sit down and read it.It is a little gem, and I really enjoyed it, I can see why it has remained a favorite through the year.Give yourself a treat and give it a go.
