Swept away as usual
Like all the previous books, this one captures the reader and let's go with difficulty at the last page. The book has romance, life, death, humor, deceit, mystery with a dabble of supernatural stirred in .

I’m losing sleep because I just have to read one more chapter...
This series of books is so action packed I keep thinking I’ll go to sleep if I can just read a little further, see them through this problem! The characters come to life and worm their way into my heart. They are so vivid and the narrative and dialog so compelling that I just want to keep reading, I am aware that the speech patterns are more modern than what would be heard during that time period but that is unimportant.I am ready to start the next book detailing the life of Charlie and Lincoln. And I must find out what happens to Alice, Seth and the rest of the gang.

A Good Addition to a Fun Series
I, once again, liked this book in the series, but didn't love it (like many of the earlier books). I felt some of the storylines have been drug out for too long and i must say, I'm rather relieved the storyline between Charlie and Lincoln has sort of ended (I do realize this isn't the end of the series as a whole). I did still enjoy the book. I was a little surprised by certain revelations and I'm glad Alice's story isn't over yet. It's a fun a unique take on Alice in Wonderland. I felt that Charlie's character has finally grown-up well and she's become a strong, independent female character that embraces who she is while still able to lean on her family and friends. Lincoln - I want to love his character, but I feel he changed too much and became flat and less interesting as the series has continued. I realize he needed to change some, but I want more of the original rough edge to shine through more. Overall, good read and I'm definitely looking forward to Alice's story.

Surprising developments
The Ministry of Curiosities's future is unclear with the corruption and I can't imagine what the next book will entail. I can't wait for the next book to find what happens with Alice, Seth, and Lady Vickers who I adore. I for one am happy that the author alter the content of the book. I would be disappointed with a huge love scene between Lincoln and Charlie as it's the tone for the series. There were many twists in the stories and characters I trusted or thought I knew did things I never expected. I'm still on the fence about the changes in Gilly. I think it's gone a little too far, although he had some moments in this book.Harriet is still a mystery to me and I'm looking forward to finding out how she'll be as a mother.

Once again...
The crew needs to adress some important business, the crown may or may not be involved and our beloved heroine gets crazy for not being fully involved. Each book tells us more about the spiderweb in the dark, Lincolns family and the upcoming marriage. Every character gets his/her fair share and is developped further. I love this series and can't wait for the next book!

The best instalment of the series so far!!
The best one so far! I loved it from start to finish. The characters really came into their own, with the reader really getting to know each character and their personalities, but C.J. Archers wonderful story lines speaks for themselves. There is so much going on in this instalment. You have the romantic countdown to Charlie and Lincoln's wedding, with the major plot of disturbing murders happening again, but behind that, is a wonderful sub plot of Alice, Wonderland and the white rabbit. This book was a real page turner, which was sad because it meant that I finished this fantastic book too quickly. You get completely drawn in to Charlie and Lincoln's relationship, your heart goes out to them as they battle this latest mystery, so close to finally becoming husband and wife, it is a real 'will they', 'won't they' story. Can't wait for the next instalment. If you haven't read any of the Ministry of Curiosities, don't delay because you will certainly be in for a treat! Start at the beginning... It is a wonderful ride.

Series to be read
I received the first book free, but it was so captivating that I have now bought and read every book in the series even though they are more expensive than my usual limit. Charlie’s story is so intriguing with romance of course intertwined. The other characters support the story well and her ‘family’ characters have intrigue as well. Can definitely recommend, have already preordered the next book.

Enjoyable
It's sad in one way that Lincoln and Charlie's story is coming to an end, though probably just as well in others. I suppose an author C J Archer can flout as many of the Victorian concerns as she likes, especially as her novels are set in a Victorian-era "world". Though to me it simply means said author did little or no research! That being said the story is reasonably well told with some, though not many, engaging characters.
