Whitener & Brightener

I didn't have high hopes about this product because I thought it was similar to some supermarket products that I bought in the past, which did not do much of anything in the way of whitening and brightening. I had about 20 pairs of all-cotton underwear that I put into a bathroom sink, and I used the whole packet (at first, I thought that I could get away with using only half the packet). I filled the bathroom sink all the way up to the top with very hot water, used the whole packet, and then I forgot about this little project. When I came back almost an hour later, I noticed that the water in the sink had a noticeable grey color. The product seemed to have pulled out whatever was responsible for "dullness" from the fabric, but at that point, I really didn't see any noticeable whiter color in the underwear. I rinsed everything really good and then ran the underwear in a normal cycle in the washing machine. I still didn't notice anything that would get my attention, in the same way that cotton looks noticeably whiter after a chlorine bleaching session. However...when I took the underwear out of the dryer -- that got my attention. Everything was noticeably whiter. It was a nice unexpected surprise. The end result is not quite the jump in whiteness that you'd see from a chlorine bleach session, but it's close. This is a nice way to get a bleaching effect with cotton without having to use toxic chemicals, since the ingredients list for this product is simply: sodium chloride, optical brighteners. It also contains some fragrance because it smelled nice. Maybe the other trick is to leave it soaking for way longer than the 5-10 minutes recommended on the package. All in all, I was satisfied with the result and would definitely buy it again for 100% cotton.

Whites washes up a lot whiter and brighter

It didn't get my product white as described.Reason I rated as 4. My product color better then it was.

I love this stuff!!! My husband wears white tee shirts every day. Sometimes they get dingy, which is not an option for my family's laundry. I'm a laundry nerd. I only use Tide Pods (no dyes or perfumes), Downy fabric soften (traditional scent) and I use Downey Unstoppables so my family looks and smell great at all times!

I bought other clothing whiteners in the past that actually worked. This one didn’t do anything at all. In fact the power was a yellow color she it came out of the pack .. I should have known it wouldn’t work. Old maybe .lost my money on this one

I use to use still all the time years ago. Back then it worked awesomely. I do not know what has changed but it did not seem to make any difference. Nothing seemed to be any whiter or brighter. Very disappointed.

I have used this before with great outcomes.

Worked beautifully. I used it to make a white garment black light sensitive for a solar eclipse party. Before using this product, the garment, although white in color, did not glow. Now it looks completely the same but reacts under a black light.
