AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pantheon is beautifully written and takes place in a time that doesn't matter. The ideology we have inherited as humans, of goddesses and gods, has been dismembered in the most irreverent and honorably humorous ways possible. The imaginative scope of undoing the inheritance, begs the question of every formality indebted to us as humans. The insidious nature of not knowing who you are is brandished as a caveat in the opening passage for Kaeli. This declaration of not knowing who you are, while sensing who you might be, was perhaps a recognition of the dualistic body and spirit? I do not know, but I could not help but wonder. I think my favorite part about Awet's writing is that I can really swirl this question (among others) relentlessly, without knowing its' intent, yet still feeling its' provocative nature. The entire journey throughout Pantheon was anti-symbolic, yet formed a conduit to create a vast space of meaning. I am absolutely in love with the textual and historical symbolism embedded in this journey and would highly recommend to anyone looking to unravel their conditionings and disrupt their personal perspectives. Awet is an incredibly talented novelist and artist and I look forward to reading more of his work!!!

Seven inches of grey matter between the ears required. Apply within.
The inflection to indicate the relative degree of this comic requires academic navigation. This information is a stark contrast to most comic books as Awet describes the journey of the deity Kali-ma. Higher order of thinking, not your elementary gonads and strife narrative. Comes across as language manipulation as we search for meaning. At first, this information may appear hyperbolical but if we study the dialogue further, the words become indispensable. Be prepared to summon some mental elbow grease as you work through comprehending the dialogue. If you want to improve the quality of brain cells, this is the comic. Some of these words may require you to channel a mental dictionary to confirm the thought. Awet challenges the reader to escape the usual meanings and instead focus on how he defines or uses such bold words. Impressive use of various vocabulary. Very little repetition. It's like Eminem and his vast arsenal of word knowledge spitting to challenge the philosopher Awet to use big and obscure words in his story. If you are not familiar with philosophy and various cultural civilization divinity, this material may appear pedantic. Dig deeper and consider it a shortcut in how such people perceive reality. The irony is finding the central idea that permeates throughout the story and then comparing it to the artificial means you are holding in your hand as a tool for survival, or is it a seed of destruction?

Mind-Altering
Reading Pantheon requires the reader to ponder the words like taking a careful bite of a delectable dessert, closing one’s eyes, and savoring every excitation on one’s palate, only then can one truly appreciate the deeper relations of Awet Moges’ composition of words together with the orchestration of his artwork. The medium of comic book for Pantheon is a necessary visual aid for modern readers who are diametrically removed from the ancient myths, revitalizing the gods and goddesses from the full spectrum of the world’s mythologies. Following the protagonist Kaeli’s introspections and interrelations with other gods and goddesses in her journey across time and space transports the reader through an analogous mental journey in the confrontation of one’s very existence. In the grandeur of the old epics, Pantheon is nothing less than a philosophical treatise on the humanity’s age-old longings for meaning in this universe.

Flipping the Script on the Gods!
Excellent twist on the gods and goddess, flipping the role as custodians of the worshippers’ fate into one where they’re directly responsible, ironically as the custodians defined differently, cleaning up the mess they and other deities created. Can’t wait to read the upcoming volumes.
