Wanting to get a more stable professional looking recordings for our holidays I got this.Its pretty straightforward, you download the accompanying app which serves as a new camera app which includes the tracking abilities as well as gesture recognition and controls.One little gripe I have is that it is on the slightly heavier side and does case some fatigue after extended use.It comes with a handy tripod for your home tutorial style vlogs so its great for that.It also has a standard screw mount so this can be mounted onto a tri-pod.Its a brilliant piece of kit that had my work colleagues in awe!

This seems like a good quality gimbal at a very reasonable price when compared to the leading brands. As soon as you open the box and pick up the various parts of the gimbal, you can feel from the materials and the weight of the parts that this is a quality item - it certainly doesn't feel cheap.Using the supplied instructions, it is fairly easy to piece together the gimbal and put it together ready for its first use.To get the most out of the gimbal, it is recommended that you download the accompanying app from the App Store. The app itself is pretty good and includes a lot of useful features when using the gimbal (such as video template types for specific types of shot). One other good thing about the app is that it includes a number of useful tutorial videos to help you get to grips with the gimbal. When I first tried it I was clueless! But the videos really helped me to start to learn how to use it properly.One thing I did struggle with initially was trying to get my phone to balance in the gimbal. My phone kept flopping around and not resting at the correct angle (my phone isn't weighted with a centre balance, it is more top-heavy). The instructions didn't really mention how to balance this properly (although the video tutorials did briefly mention this), and it took me a lot of trial and error to get it balanced correctly.When I did finally get it balanced and ready to shoot videos, I was impressed with the stability of my videos when I was filming on the move. It certainly does remove shaking and is far superior to just holding my phone in my hand and recording.To sum up: a pretty good gimbal with a steep learning curve which could do with a more comprehensive set of instructions (although the video tutorials on the app do help a bit in this regard).

This was great for a recent trip to Cornwall - and very good value alternative to the bigger name brands.It works with my iPhone 16 Pro Max perfectly - and I think lighter phones must be easier to balance, as my colleagues iPhone 13 Pro Max took some slight movements left and right in the holder to make it work.The app provides a familiar look to the normal camera app, whilst of course providing some more options. I found the person tracking OK - but any attempt to try and make it loose you will not take much effort for it to do so.Build quality is solid and a nice surprise at this price, and includes a REPLACEABLE rechargeable battery.

PROS-quite light-effective face-tracking (ideal for vlogging)-on-axis illumination quite effective (if close up), while additional on-top light is RGB capable and pretty bright (love the magnetic attachment)-gimbal has manual controls, as well as being controlled from the app-1/4”-20 hole for attachment of other accessories (another light, or a magic arm to hold a monitor/other phone)-both magnetic attachment (for suitably equipped phones) and a clamp-folds up quite small for transport-long-lasting battery (even with a heavy phone and the RGB light on top)-quick flip from landscape to portrait (I could wish my big gimbals did this better)CONS-subject tracking not as smooth as I’d prefer (for cinematic footage), it can be a little jerky when it starts and stops tracking-you need to install the app to be able to fully control the gimbal-for phones only (to attach another type of camera e.g. an action cam, I’d need to kludge together an adaptor)-occasional app crashes-tripod could have a wider footprint, as it is, it’s very tippy-I would have preferred a dial for the zoom, rather than a rocker switch-I found the “gesture control” to be a bit hit and missNOTES-I use a full size gimbal for my mirrorless camera, and it’s quite heavy when fully loaded up (camera, lens, focus unit, monitor, arms, vari-ND control, v-lock battery), so it’s nice to use a quite-functional gimbal that is so light. I’m not going to use my phone for high-end filming (of course), but it’s great for behind-the-scenes b-roll. We needed a gimbal to film higher motion activities with an iPhone 15 Pro and this was my first time using one. The included instructions were decent, but the most helpful guide is the tutorials located in the app.I was disappointed the tripod was a bit basic, but I think they assume you will have a separate full sized tripod to use (which we do).I did test with the tripod it comes with when using the face tracking/body tracking features. It did work correctly and the technology is impressive, but any fast movements, or if 2 people are in frame at the same time it kind of drops the ball and fails at tracking.As far as smooth movement goes, the AOCHAUN gimbal's stabilization was very impressive and filmed smooth scenes and action shots that were quite impressive! The joystick controls on the back allowed me to anticipate the next movement if it would be quick and lead into that direction very nicely.We received the Smart X "Kit" which includes the RGB rechargeable and very impressively compact fill light. There is so much cool technology crammed into this kit, its crazy and blows my mind. Everything has been thought out well, the textured grip is easy to hold when moving fast, or hands get sweaty, etc.I have a TON of 18650 Lithium rechargeable batteries for other equipment, so I was very pleased this model went with the rechargeable battery compartment with easy to open magnetic battery panel. This allowed me to keep multiple batteries on hand for the day, and added to the reason I give this a easy 5 stars.
