Glass bowled chopper - efficient and safe
The media could not be loaded. I have a large, scary food processor which I don't use very often and is taking up far too much counter space for it's keep! So, I've been looking for an alternative for a while now which is small enough to go into a cupboard until it is needed but is still efficient.I always worry I'm going to chop my fingers off when I have to use a food processor and I obsess about unplugging them before I dare tend to the chopped food. This chopper however eases my anxiety because the electrical part is lifted off before you can get to the food so it's reassuring to know the blades can't accidentally whir into action! I really like the way it works and is set up. The heavy glass bowl stops the whole unit from getting away from you. There is a silicon ring stand that the bowl sits on. This is loose and I wish really that it slipped on and off as it's a bit annoying when you move the bowl and the ring doesn't come with it! But you could probably silicon it on if it bothered you. It makes washing easy. The chopper is not too noisy - see video - although obviously if you are chopping nuts etc it is going to be louder than soft veg. When I wanted to take the blades apart after I had used it, I did struggle getting them apart but I found you need to line up the top and bottom blades first before trying to get them apart. I like the plastic blade covers which you can reuse for storage as the blades are super sharp. For the price point and for its small footprint, I am really impressed with this chopper. It feels pretty substantial and works well. It's a great compromise between a useless cheap small chopper and an expensive huge food processor. I'm a fan!

Pulse Chopper
The media could not be loaded. I wasn't expecting much from this chopper, the motor section is quite tall and the bowl is fairly small so I knew the motor was reasonably large but I wasn't sure how well it would chop. There are 4 blades mounted on a central spindle to perform the chopping action. The blades come mounted on two plastic pieces that then slide down over the central spindle. The spindle is mounted in the bottom of the glass bowl and then passes up through the plastic lid that is mounted on the base of the chopper unit and seals to the bowl with a rubber gasket. The end of the spindle pushes in to a small recess on the motor unit. There is a rubber gasket for the base of the bowl - this comes inside the bowl. I didn't realise this so my first use of it I gouged a slice out of the gasket as I left in the bowl. Don't be like me, remove it before use! There are two speed settings to use. They work in a pulse motion so you have to hold the button in for it to chop. Setting 1 is for softer items such as onions and setting 2 is for firmer items such as apples or potatoes. My only real criticism of this chopper is that you can only really cut in to small pieces. Maybe with practice I will be able to achieve slightly larger chunks but it seems to work best cutting in to small dice. I am fairly certain that you could easily puree with this unit if you run it for long enough.I did like that it comes with a spatula, this makes it easy to push items around and make sure you get an even chop. There is also a handy little brush that makes cleaning the blades easy and keeps your fingers away from the blades completely.I am very impressed with this and it makes chopping onions and carrots for a ragu super simple and, more importantly, quick!
