I bought this for my class to help students when delivering speeches. However, I found that now we are getting into our debates and the old podium I had isn't working to well and my students love this instead. I am currently ordering another one. I even had to move this podium from my class to use for a faculty meeting and luckily it was light enough that 2 of us were able to move it. I love that it has shelves on the inside so people can store items that they may need, I wouldn't recommend putting your foot on it as that's definitely what it's not for. However, when it comes to putting notes or anything on the top, it really is great for that. This whole thing didn't take long to put together has really has come in handy a lot more times than I can count.

My husband and I serve a small town church; he is the pastor and I am a liturgical organist as well as the tech person who facilitates the church’s use of social media and plans special events for the congregation. One of the things I plan each year is a “youth-led Christmas service” in which the youth take over presenting the Christmas message. This year’s program, for which the planning is already well-underway, requires a second lectern.We have a pulpit, but not a lectern as is common in many larger churches. We were going to construct one; my husband is a woodworker and certainly has the skills to do it. Then I saw this one! I ordered it and I’m pleased that I did. It took my husband about 45 minutes to put it together. He did not use the provided screwdriver, preferring one of his own longer shafted ones for the job. At first he thought he might use a power tool to put it together, which would have taken less time, but he thinks that given the type of wood it is, you could quickly strip the screws or the wood. This is constructed of particle board with a thin vinyl wood grain veneer. Once assembled, it is quite sturdy. The instructions were photos and were in English; I remark on this because with many things we have ordered that are made in a different country, the translations are very poor. This one is a very good translation. The included photos with this review show this lectern in the chancel area of our church. You can see its relative size to our standard-sized pulpit; it’s perfect for the kids. Could he have built one for less than the listed price of $89 if he’d made it from scratch? I’m sure he could have, but as the saying goes, “Time is Money” and it is worth it to be able to put together a quality piece of chancel furniture in less than an hour with no trip to the lumberyard for the wood and hardware, and then having to stain the unit!

What home is complete without a lectern, right?Ok, for real, my teenager asked for one of these to use for practicing presentations and speech/debate for school. Pretty sure kiddo never thought I'd actually GET a lectern for the house, but it's yet another trick we've pulled out of the magic mom hat! This one is an average height, nice construction, simple, and doesn't take up a lot of space. Assembly was pretty quick and straightforward; most flat-pack furniture goes together in about the same way.

This is a perfect sized lectern for presentations and speeches, even just to practice oratory on. It even includes a lower shelf to store notes, water, or whatever little accessories might aid in the speech. Elegant looking, and the top stand is both edged so you don't drop anything while gesticulating wildly, and more importantly, LARGE ENOUGH TO STORE PREPARED REMARKS OR A LAPTOP COMFORTABLY, etc. Looks elegant, small but stylish flourishes, and will do the job for making a speech or remarks well. Great for professors, preachers, or things like spelling bees.
