Good Quality, good price, satisfied with purchase
I have Diabetes, although not so bad a cut won't heal on my foot. Neuropathy ia a problem, feet extremely sensitive, so Foot comfort is NO# priority. I have feet that are totally flat and shaped like a duck, no arch at all. Fisherman shoes are hard to find in extra wide sizes but the shoes I had worn every day for 6 years finally gave up. The velcro wore out on the straps. I searched for days on the web for fisherman's with a buckle, but the only ones I could find were D width. These shoes are listed as 2E width. I wear a 4E, but thought I'd give them a try. I found out that Timberland no longer makes these so I'm guessing that what's out there is all that's left. Some reviewers said that the shoe is a little big. The 2E width proved to be just wide enough for me and when I first tried them on, they felt a little like a new shoe, but I never had a moments discomfort. After a week of constant wear my feet are comfortable and the shoes feel completely broken in. Size 12 length ieaves about an inch of wiggle room, but I always buy 12 because the longer shoe puts my bunions at the widest part of the shoe where a shorter shoe pushes my foot further towards the front where the shoe is 1/4 inch narrower. My ankles overpronate and buying shoes has always been one big hassle for me, especially online as you don't know what your getting until they arrive. I always try to find a shoe locally, but it's proven to be a waste of time. The shoes might be a little large, but that's a big plus for me as my foot can't tolerate the least bit of binding. I wear fisherman's shoes 98% of the time, even in 6 inches of powder snow, while I'm clearing off the windshield of the car. I wear conventional men's type dress shoes only to Church on Sunday, or to a rare special event where I have to dress casual instead of my normal more than casual, (but not people of Walmart), over-the-hill-gang attire. My shoe requirements are: heel and strap are comfortable, not loose, shoes do not move on my feet, but for the front part of my shoe, a thickly padded leather dinner-plate would work just fine. When I come home from a day of traipsing around Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart, Costco, etc. I don't want my feet to be hurting. These shoes are stylish, comfortable - they just feel good - never the slightest discomfort. I'm happy as a clam.W.O.

FINALLY! A well made Sandal that feels good and looks good!
I am very picky about the way my footwear fits. I have many pairs of shoes, but I WEAR maybe 2 or 3. You will always god back to the shoes that you feel good in and wear those, even if another pair LOOKS better.I usually wear Merrill because they FIT my foot right. The arch hits in the right place....they just feel right. And in a sandal, that you wear BAREFOOT, the insole liner material is CRITICAL. If it is the wrong material, it will feel lousy when your feet sweat a little, and even worse, it will begin to smell bad.... and that's that.So....this is my initial review of my Timberland sandals. Timberland's construction is the best I have seen in terms of workmanship and materials. You can immediately see the quality and tell that they made these right. The insole is some kind of man made material that is made for bare feet, I'll report back later on how they hold up. Initially they feel like they will be really good in all aspects, but the way the foot-bed feels and how the insole holds up is important. I'll report back on this.I am impressed, and pretty damn sure there are gonna work.I have tried 4 or 5 different sandals trying to replace the Merrills which have been discontinued. I bought 2 pairs and wore them both out!

Not junk, Great stuff
Fantastic lasted, fit great, that's why they are discontinued. They are not cheap plastic junk.

Excellent sandals
These are comfortable with or without socks (I wear them without socks), and they're very ruggedly built. You could go hiking in them in terrain that's not overly rough. Other reviews that say they run a little large are accurate--I usually wear a size 9, but ordered a half size smaller based on the reviews and they fit perfectly lengthwise. Over the course of a full day, they might feel a little tight across the instep, but it's easy to resolve by just loosening the strap a bit. No slippage or discomfort at the heel like so many other sandals I've worn. Definitely recommended.Update 5-23-2016: I liked the brown pair that I bought last summer so much that I ordered and just received another pair in black, at a nice discount and free same-day delivery through Amazon Prime. Again, I ordered a half-size down from my usual size, and they fit great. Remember that you'll have to experiment with the ankle strap to find the happy spots for your ankles, but once you're there, you're walking forever in these.

Great sandals: comfortable with good support
I bought a pair of these at a Timberland outlet maybe 15 years ago. I'm still wearing them but the sole is finally starting to wear out. I am grateful that Timberland still makes them—and hasn't compromised on quality as so many other companies have on products that I used to buy. These sandals are perfect for my needs and tastes. I share the opinion of another reviewer: I don't like sandals with open toes and open heels. Basically, I want a shoe with ventilation for the summer but which has good support. One reviewer thought they were too heavy and not cool enough. Well, yes, they're not as light or cool as flip-flops, but you'll ruin your feet if you do much walking in flip-flops. The Altamont gives the same support as a good walking shoe, but is much cooler (in the 100+ temperatures I get in inland Southern California). You can walk on concrete sidewalks in perfect (springy) comfort. They were comfortable right out of the box, but after wearing them a while they're even more comfortable. I like the velcro strap which makes putting them on and adjusting them simple. And the strap on my old pair still hasn't worn out. This is a great product.
