Rivet Nut Assortment Kit, 275 Pcs. Metric & 285 Pcs. SAE, In Separate Divided Labeled Hinged Cases
This is a fantastic value. It is an assortment of Rivet Nuts (aka: RivNuts or NutSerts) in both Metric and SAE sizes. Each standard is delivered in its own dedicated, divided, translucent plastic case that is labeled inside an outside so that the parts can be identified with the case top open or closed. The SAE assortment contains 285 total pieces while the Metric assortment contains 275 total pieces for a grand total of 560 pieces of hardware. The sizes and quantity of each size supplied are listed below. This hardware must be used with the appropriate tool and mandrel to properly insert and permanently affix the hardware to the metal substrate. Rivet Nut Tool Kits and Mandrels are available from Amazon for a reasonable price. Instructions to use the tool are provided with the tool, on the associated Amazon page quite often, and, of course, on YouTube. Key to the proper insertion and setting of the Rivet Nut is drilling of the proper size hole and the proper use of the tool itself. Also key, is the use of a quality Rivet Nut that properly expands once they are placed on the mandrel and are expanded by the tool. This assortment of rivet nuts contains quality steel parts that are engineered to properly expand and hold to the metal substrate. Also, key to the overall process is the anti-corrosion treatment of the rivet nuts so that once they are installed, they last and do not immediately turn to rust. This assortment of rivet nuts is zinc-plated resulting in a galvanized surface which will prevent oxidation, corrosion, and eventual rusting away to nothing. This is a quality assortment of parts that will serve the average user well for a long time to come. The SAE Assortment contains the following sizes and quantities:#6-32 (qty: 45), #8-32 (qty: 65), #10-24 (qty: 65), 1/4"-20 (qty: 65), 5/16"-18 (qty: 25), & 3/8"-16 (qty: 20)The Metric Assortment contains the following sizes and quantities:M3 (qty: 70), M4 (qty: 70), M5 (qty: 50), M6 (qty: 50), M8 (qty: 20), M10 (qty: 10), & M12 (qty: 5)

Very impressive set! No Special Tools needed.
I got these to use machine bolts in thin sheet metal. There is a tool you can get to install these, and I have an inexpensive one. If you have a lot of these to install than a high-quality tool can be helpful, but if you are just installing a few here and here to repair things or built little projects like I am, then I found that all you really need is a bolt, a nut, and maybe a washer and some open-end wrenches. If you drill the hole as close to the outside diameter as possible, then thread the nut all the way onto the bolt, put the washer on, then thread the insert all the way on, then put the insert into the hole... this way you can hammer it in with the head of the bolt and not bang up your part. Once the insert is fully seated, just hold onto the bolt with one wretch, and use the other wrench to try to take the nut off... since you are preventing the bolt from turning with the first wrench, trying to remove the nut will in effect try to pull the insert out, but it can't come out because it's up against the nut... so it will crimp it the way it's supposed to be crimped. Just be careful not to overtighten it, stop when the resistance increases. Since you are turning the nut on the bolt, you aren't wearing out the threads of the insert at all. Once you get it fully seated and feel more resistance, then stop, and threat the nut back onto the bolt a little, then remove the bolt, and now the insert is fully installed. These are galvanized carbon steel so they should be fine outdoors, but I only need them for indoor applications, so I have no way to know how they hold up if left outside. They are way stronger than the aluminum versions of these. This is a really great set with all the popular SAE and Metric size!

Great value
The set of rivnuts is a very good value for the money. They work as well as any other rivnuts that I have bought from the big box stores that cost me a great deal more money. If you can't find a rivnut in this pack that you need, you probably need to figure out some other way too secure your item.

Great assortment
Great assortment of nutserts - I find myself looking for excuses to use them sometimes. Not enough for any big jobs, but for odd jobs and repairs - there are plenty, and it's great to have an assortment.

Un stripper
These inserts are a quick convenient way to repair stripped out threaded holes. For best effect, (in plastics) complete disassembly to insert from the backside gives the best fix. For stripped out leg ends, Making an oversized hardwood sleeve with one of these inserts pressed into the sleeve and gluing the sleeve into a larger hole drilled into the original stripped hole. That provides more glue surface for a stronger hold than the original. Good hardware to keep on hand.
