Once all aligned it's a useful stand
When put together in the correct way (probably) the mic boom stand will align the microphone in the perfect angle along with the phone/tablet holder at an easy to see heightThat's the good part. All the clamps and knobs seem to hold in place and tighten up very well. That's another good part. I placed a fairly heavy microphone in the mic holder to see how well the stand would balance and it was stable, which is good. The mic holder's screw needed to be tightened as tight as the screw would allow without stripping that Phillips screw, but it needed it to keep the mic falling away from its own weight. I'd pack another better mic clip, though after the tightening, this one is wider than some, allowing for using mics with a little thicker handle. There's a couple of things that are nonstandard compared to typical microphone boom stands. The 2 main tubes that comes up from the tripod, they screw together. The minimum height the device can be mounted (a six inch phone) is at about 51 inches from the bottom of the device to the floor. That suits me just fine when I'm standing but if sitting in a lower chair I'd be looking up at it. I'd suggest when seated using a tall chair. If you're a tall person this stand can extend very high with the device placement maybe 70 inches or more from bottom of the device to the floor.Making height adjustments is a little odd because as you turn counter clockwise you can also end up unscrewing the two main tubes, everything begin to loosen. With a little care and patience it's not a big deal. All I'm saying is it's just not a common mic stand. The upper extendable center rod is slightly thicker than a standard mic stand's upper extendable rod, so this clamp used to attach the boom arm is maybe proprietary made to fit this brand's thicker tube. I hope this company stocks spare parts. All the tube parts fit into the carry bag nicely.. . The tube threads seem machined pretty well. but you'll need to completely break the stand down to use the bag and will need set it up each time you use it, so I'll be careful not to cross thread.I'll start using this stand on gigs and see how much I REALLY like it, but right now I sort of already really like it. I took some photos of the stand both at the lower and upper height.
