Using AAA batteries makes for a thicker pen, but it is still easy to hold and comfortable to use. But the advantage of using AAA batteries makes this pen the best choice by far since this size is readily available, including as a rechargeable, and battery life will be much longer than using button batteries which is common for this type of pen.I keep this pen and a pad of paper by my bedside. If I get an idea while trying to get to sleep, I can quickly jot it down. Now I know I will not forget it by next morning, easing my mind so I can get to sleep.

The media could not be loaded.  Got this specifically red light LED pen for waking up at night to write notes and thoughts by bedside. I think red light is better than white light to avoid disturbing sleep. Build quality feels good. Ink flows well and smooth (come with refills for each pen) The pen body is painted smooth and can be a bit slippery for a thick pen. It does feel heavy with the center of gravity just in the middle (see 3rd photo), partly due to AAA battery. Pen diameter is about 12 mm for the pen-nib half and about 13 mm for top-switch half (not including the pen clip).To write, you need to twist lower half of the pen (that is away from the top switch). But this twist is a bit stiff, so I usually leave the nib out and put in a pen holder by my bedside.There are 2 light intensities - 30% and 100%, by toggling the switch on top. It has a nice click sound (as in video). As another user noted there is some rattling sound from this switch if you shake pen strongly side to side, but not a deal breaker. Also, the red light is actually just smooth red. In the video, for strange reasons, my camera shows this poorly as some yellowish-orange glow (tried several times but same results). The first 2 photos are the closest that reflect the actual looks in person - smooth dull red. Kind of like those photo dark rooms.It comes with AAA battery installed and a protective black cap on the switch (to prevent switching on during transit). Just remember to pull off this black cap first to reveal the switch. It also comes with a tiny cloth pouch.All in all, it's a useful red LED pen with 2 light intensities and uses AAA battery. It's a bit heavy (can get use to it) and stiff-turning (use pen holder), but works well for me to jot notes in the middle of night without disrupting my sleep. Really useful and awesome pen!

I don't write many reviews, but I have been very impressed with the quality of the pen and felt the need to share. I had a hard time finding a "night vision" pen with a soft and dispersed light. I haven't been able to find another pen with this kind of functionality and attention to detail. The red light is perfect for keeping my night vision when I write notes in bed. The pen feels well balanced and not too heavy at the button end. The twist operation is well tuned and smooth, and the grip material is perfect - not too slick and not sticky. And most importantly, the light is dispersed and easy on the eyes when it's pitch black. The low setting is good for when your eyes are adjusted to pitch black, and the high setting is good for writing on a plane at night (for example).Thank you for the great product, I hope you can stay in business and continue producing other products with great quality - it's what this world needs, to stop producing garbage, and make products that last a lifetime. I expect this to last forever, I've dropped it a few times on hardwood and was surprised nothing broke. I was also surprised how quickly it came as well.

These are on the chunkier side, but I like that. Love being able to replace the batteries easily and being able to use rechargeable AAA batteries to save money. The ink cartridge that came in the pen (with the black top) was thin and light, making it hard to read on off white journal pages. I was about to return the pens when I decided to replace the ink with one of the included spares (with the white cap) and was so happy that those wrote darker/thicker. The only downside for me is that I am emptying the ink cartridges must faster than I would have expected. So these may need to be pens that I only use when I need the light or the cost of ink is going to become ridiculous.

I do a lot of night writing and this is just the thing i was looking for to help me do that! Pen has a nice feel to it the ink is smooth to write with and i like the idea of just replacing one AAA battery instead of fumbling around with 3 button batteries. Red light is enough light to see what you are writing well but does not wreck your night vision or bother people near you. Product also comes with extra ink refills so no need to stress about finding and ordering new ones.Also the button that turns the light off and on came with a little plastic cover that will be great to keep on the pen when it is not in use to cut down on the chance it turns on in my bag and runs the battery dead, so i appreciate that as well. Great product!

I love this pen, but I need to change out the battery and I cannot get the pieces to come apart where the battery is housed. (The lower part of the pen comes apart to change out the ink shaft just fine, and the very top comes off, but not the inner white plastic piece, which is where the battery is.) I don't want to break it! And I only get one choice of light percentage, no lower wattage choice. Any instruction from the seller would be helpful. Thanks!

One light setting would probably have been sufficient. However the pen provides adequate lighting for dark work. Curious to see how well the battery lasts. Do find the AAA battery makes the pen a bit too heavy, but then again unlikely my use would be more than a few minutes at a time.
