Silverline Bolster Chisel with Guard 57 x 220mm (PC42)

Bought to remove old wall tiles from an outhouse, did the job easily. This is a no nonsense solid heavy duty type tool which does its job brilliantly and at such a low price you cant go wrong. Very happy with purchase.

Removed 2 layers of wall tiles and 4 layers of floor tiles with this weapon... No sign of blunting and took loads of abuse... Can't fault it for the bargain price..

I am tiling at the moment, i had to break up a Kitchen Tile Floor and needed a new Chisel, i am a fan of Silverline tools and this had good reviews so i purchased one.The Good* The Chisel does feel very well made as soon as you pick it up, it has a nice rubber grip wrap to stop your hand getting fatigued. Its balanced well without being super end heavy, the tip is of a fair degree of sharpness.* At under 600g its not like having a workout as well as having to do a job, its fairly comparable weight wise to much more expensive competitors.* I used this for approximately 4 hours taking out Kitchen Floor Tiles and the adhesive that was liberally splashed here there and everywhere on the sub floor. It did a solid job, no issues with getting it into the gaps, went through grout and adhesive without cause for concern then when it came to breaking up the tiles afterwards to dispose of them this was no problem either.The Could be slightly better* I was already aware but do bear in mind that the hand guard is made of strong rubber/plastic. The column is obviously not but the guard is so if you are planning on undertaking a job that requires a lot of swing then be aware if you miss the column with your hammer then you are potentially going to break the guard. Ive done this on other chisels and for this job i wasnt planning on digging out a new cellar so i did exercise some caution.Plastic and Rubber guards are commonplace if not the norm on Chisels like this so its not a huge issue.Silverline hand tools come with a lifetime Guarantee, thats not to say you wont break it, if you hit it hard enough on the lip of the guard then you most likely will so use it for jobs that you are going to have that degree of control over your hammer.Did the job it was purchased for, am sure it will last for many other jobs too.Recommended.Four Stars.

Bought this as it was cheap. The first one got lost in the post but the company were really helpful and sent another out straight away.It's chunky, robust and gets the job done and that hand guard is worth it's weight in gold lolCan't go wrong with this one.

Female in 60,s , bought this to clear rough edging of cement on small wall area. Job done with ease and speed. Great tool, well pleased

Bought to do some tiles and after a days use its not held up, for home it's fine but not for everyday contract work
