My old fob was extremely ragged, the buttons didn't work anymore and overall needed a new house. This shell was exactly the right type for my key. The electronics inside transfered easily and paired with a fresh new battery my remote buttons function again. So if you're in need of a more economical replacement shell that doesn't involve transferring the top portion (which includes transferring the transponder which is super difficult) this bottom shell is for you. If anything changes in terms of quality I'll update this review but after a month of using daily everything works great still.

Bought this to replace the bottom part of the fob for my '02 Passat. The key fob is laid out the exact same as the factory fob and is well made, but I had to file some parts of the fob down in order to make it comfortably fit with my existing OEM key blade and top portion of the fob without splitting the top portion at the seams like it did without modification. The electronics from the OEM fob fit in the new one without any issues and all of the buttons have been working for a few months now. Overall worth the purchase assuming you have a file set or some sandpaper at your house!

The case doesn't fit with the original circuit board. Even you try to use the original back cover with the battery, it doesn't work. The buttons are pressed just by touching anywhere on the case.

My keychain attachment has been broken for years- the case replacement worked perfect! Easy to swap out electronics. Like having a new fob without the dealership hassle!

I thought I could save some money by just buying this shell and moving the guts from the original one over. Turned out that the inside measurements weren't the same and the guts from the original (same model number) didn't fit this shell.I returned this and ordered their entire fob (top/bottom) and it was perfect. Good company, good product. Just be sure what you really need. BTW, this was for 2001 VW Beetle which apparently had two different fob styles depending on when the car was built.

The media could not be loaded. 2000 gti owner picked this up to replace broken key fob. It’s a close fit but only if I use the original back plate that holds the cr 1620 double stacked batteries the other battery holder is a 1632 it’s too big for the electronic key board. Also feels like the buttons are little tight on the fit. Had to order new batteries so will try in the morning to fit it together.Update this did not work the board sits too high in the new part of the button shell - even trying to use the other backing the battery’s won’t allow it to close completely. Unfortunately have to return.

So far so good. Disassembled my broken OEM key fob and transferred everything over. Car locks and unlocks and starts like normal. Except now I can put my keychain back on the key fob. Car is a 2003 VW Jetta. So much better than the broken stock unit before.

This works. You just take out the battery and tiny circuit board out of your key fob and put it in the new one. The pieces do fit together perfectly, it just takes some elbow grease to force the two pieces together.
